Numerical Integration in S-PLUS or R: A Survey [PDF]
This paper reviews current quadrature methods for approximate calculation of integrals within S-Plus or R. Starting with the general framework, Gaussian quadrature will be discussed first, followed by adaptive rules and Monte Carlo methods.

Control of Open Quantum Systems via Dynamical Invariants
Dynamical invariants are used to reverse‐engineer control fields for open quantum systems described by time‐dependent Lindblad master equations. By minimizing an analytic leakage functional, the protocol dynamically steers the state along an effectively decoherence‐free path without costly iterative propagation.

High-degree spherical simplex-radial cubature quadrature Kalman filter
A high-degree spherica1 simp1ex-radia1 cubature quadrature Ka1man fi1ter(HDSSRCQKF)was proposed to improve the estimation accuracy of non1inear Ka1man fi1ter.The non1inear Gaussian weighted integra1 was decomposed into the spherica1 integra1 and radia1 ...

Joint analysis of dispersed count‐time data using a bivariate latent factor model
Abstract In this study, we explore parameter estimation for a joint count‐time data model with a two‐factor latent trait structure, representing accuracy and speed. Each count‐time variable pair corresponds to a specific item on a measurement instrument, where each item consists of a fixed number of tasks.

On Multilevel Energy‐Based Fragmentation Methods
We investigate the working equations of energy‐based fragmentation methods and present ML‐SUPANOVA, a Möbius‐inversion‐based multilevel fragmentation scheme that enables adaptive, quasi‐optimal truncations to efficiently approximate Born‐Oppenheimer potentials across hierarchies of electronic‐structure methods and basis sets.

In this paper, we examine two widely-used approaches, the polynomial chaos expansion (PCE) and Gaussian process (GP) regression, for the development of surrogate models. The theoretical differences between the PCE and GP approximations are discussed.

Modal Interference Drives Madden‐Julian Oscillation Evolution and Predictability
Abstract A data‐driven dynamical filter is developed to characterize Madden‐Julian Oscillation (MJO) variability, by representing tropical variability with nonorthogonal empirical‐dynamical modes that allow for constructive and destructive interference.

An Inverse Source Technique as a Preliminary Tool to Localize Persons in Indoor Spaces
ABSTRACT This paper considers an inverse heat source localization problem with applications to indoor person localization from temperature measurements. In particular, this inverse problem consists in the reconstruction of the intensity and position of heat sources from observed temperature data.
