Quantifying Uncertainties on Excursion Sets Under a Gaussian Random Field Prior [PDF]
We focus on the problem of estimating and quantifying uncertainties on the excursion set of a function under a limited evaluation budget. We adopt a Bayesian approach where the objective function is assumed to be a realization of a Gaussian random field.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Polar sets of anisotropic Gaussian random fields [PDF]
This paper studies polar sets of anisotropic Gaussian random fields, i.e. sets which a Gaussian random field does not hit almost surely. The main assumptions are that the eigenvalues of the covariance matrix are bounded from below and that the canonical ...

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...

Gaussian random fields in spherical coordinates [PDF]
The problem of constructing realizations of a random density field in the neighbourhood of a peak of specified over-density simplifies dramatically when formulated in spherical coordinates. The problem can now be solved exactly rather than iteratively, and it is practicable to specify also the shape of the peak.

Optimal Transport between Gaussian random fields [PDF]
We consider the optimal transport problem between zero mean Gaussian stationary random fields both in the aperiodic and periodic case. We show that the solution corresponds to a weighted Hellinger distance between the multivariate and multidimensional power spectral densities of the random fields.

Near‐Field Electrospinning Micro‐Printhead Achieves Precise Control of Nanofiber Deposition
A micro‐printhead for near‐field electrospinning enables reproducible deposition of polymer nanofibers with diameters below 50 nm. Systematic parameter studies uncover the mechanisms linking operating conditions to fiber morphology, paving the way for precise and low‐cost nanoscale 3D manufacturing. As a high‐resolution, cost‐effective, and rapid ...

Redundancy in Gaussian random fields [PDF]
In this paper, we introduce a notion of spatial redundancy in Gaussian random fields. This study is motivated by applications of thea contrariomethod in image processing. We define similarity functions on local windows in random fields over discrete or continuous domains.
