Transient dynamic response of generally-shaped arches based on a GDQ-time-stepping method
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 2016Abstract This paper deals with the in-plane dynamic modeling of generally shaped arches with a varying cross-section in undamaged or damaged configuration, under different boundary conditions and external forces. The Generalized Differential Quadrature (GDQ) method is herein applied to solve numerically the problem without passing through any ...

APPLICATION OF GDQ METHOD FOR THE STUDY OF NATURAL CONVECTION IN HORIZONTAL ECCENTRIC ANNULI
Numerical Heat Transfer, Part A: Applications, 2002A generalized differential-integral quadrature (GDQ) discretization technique developed by one of the authors was used to solve a natural convection problem in a body-fit coordinate system in their primitive variables form. A special treatment of the boundary conditions to satisfy the continuity and momentum equations along the boundaries with the ...

Vibration analysis of conical shell structures using GDQ Method
2006This paper is focused on the Generalized Differential Quadrature (GDQ) Method to study the free vibration of conical shell structures. The treatment is conducted within the theory of linear elasticity, when the material behaviour is assumed to be homogeneous and isotropic.

Surface energy and size phenomenon can highly affect the physical performance of ultra-small systems. Herein, the static and dynamic stability of nanotweezers fabricated from conductive cylindrical nanowires is studied under the presence of Casimir force. The Gurtin---Murdoch surface elasticity in combination with the consistent couple stress theory is

Free Vibration of Joined Spherical–Conical Panel and Shells Using the 2D-GDQ Method
International Journal of Structural Stability and DynamicsThe free vibration analysis of joined conical–spherical panels and shells of revolution is the primary aim of this investigation. The equations of motion are derived by considering Donnell’s kinematic assumptions and the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT), which considers the effects of shear deformation as well as rotational inertia.

Free Vibration Analysis of Functionally Graded Doubly Curved Shell Structures Using GDQ Method
2007In this paper, the Generalized Differential Quadrature (GDQ) Method is applied to analyze the dynamic behaviour of functionally graded doubly curved shells of revolution. The First-order Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT) is used to study these moderately thick structural elements.

Free vibration of laminated shells via GDQ method using third-order theories
2012Based on the Unconstrained Third Order Shear Deformation Theory (UTSDT), this paper focuses on the dynamical behaviour of moderately thick laminated domes and spherical shell panels. A higher order theory, within linear elasticity, is used to analyse the above moderately thick structural elements.
