“Zwischen allen Stühlen”: Reflections on Judaism in Germany in Victor Klemperer’s Post-Holocaust Diaries

open access: yesHumanities, 2019
This article focuses as a case study on Victor Klemperer’s diaristic representation of German-Jewish identity and culture after 1945 in the Soviet Occupation Zone and the GDR.

Decay Properties Of The Dipole Isobaric Analog Resonances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A continuum-RPA-based approach is applied to describe the decay properties of isolated dipole isobaric analog resonances in nuclei having not-too-large neutron excess.

Unveiling Spatial Dependencies — Investigating the Determinants of Firm Exit in Germany

open access: yesJournal of Regional Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The determinants of firm exit in Germany, with a particular focus on the role of spatial dependence, are investigated. Using administrative microdata, a baseline probit model confirms the importance of internal firm characteristics, most notably firm size, growth dynamics, and legal form, in explaining exit probabilities.

Far infrared giant dipole resonances in neutral quantum dots

open access: yes, 2001
A resonance behaviour of the far infrared absorption probability at a frequency \sim N^{1/4} is predicted for clusters of N electron-hole pairs (2\le N\le 110) confined in disk-shaped quantum dots. For radially symmetric dots, the absorption is dominated

A Mixed Methods Analysis of Factors That Influence the Diet Quality and Decision‐Making of Adolescent Girls in an Urban Informal Settlement in Kenya

open access: yesMaternal &Child Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Due to the nutrition transition, adolescent diets globally appear to be shifting to increased consumption of fast foods and snacks high in sodium, added sugar, and saturated fat. In urban informal settlements in Kenya, limited evidence suggests adolescents consume 1–2 meals per day, have low dietary diversity, and consume foods from roadside ...

Mutually exclusive spiky pattern and segmentation modelled by the five-component meinhardt-gierer system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the five-component Meinhardt-Gierer model for mutually exclusive patterns and segmentation. We prove rigorous results on the existence and stability of mutually exclusive spikes which are located in different positions for the two ...

Evolution of the pygmy dipole resonance in nuclei with neutron excess

open access: yes, 2009
The electric dipole excitation of various nuclei is calculated with a Random Phase Approximation phenomenological approach. The evolution of the strength distribution in various groups of isotopes, oxygen, calcium, zirconium and tin, is studied.

MT@SiO2 Enhances MEK5‐MAPK6‐NAC32 Mediated Salicylic Acid Synthesis Which Increases Resistance to Glomerella Leaf Spot in Apple

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glomerella leaf spot (GLS), a fungal disease caused by Colletotrichum fructicola, is a major destructive disease of apples but research on control measures is limited. Melatonin (MT) is a phytohormone‐like compound that affects plant growth and stress response but is prone to light‐induced degradation, resulting in low stability and efficacy ...

Investigation of Pygmy Dipole Resonances in the Tin Region

open access: yes, 2008
The evolution of the low-energy electromagnetic dipole response with the neutron excess is investigated along the Sn isotopic chain within an approach incorporating Hartree-Fock-Bogoljubov (HFB) and multi-phonon Quasiparticle-Phonon-Model (QPM) theory ...
