Speed control of 2-inertia system with gear backlash using gear torque compensator
AMC'98 - Coimbra. 1998 5th International Workshop on Advanced Motion Control. Proceedings (Cat. No.98TH8354), 2002In this paper, a new speed control method for 2-inertia system with gear backlash is proposed, which uses gear torque compensator. This compensator consists of two elements: the gear torque compensator and the feedback gain. The gear torque compensator consists of the gear torque observer and a gain; it has the characteristics of the motor torque ...

Nonlinear adaptive control for manipulator system with gear backlash
Proceedings of 35th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1996The backlash, which is caused by a gap between an actuator-side gear tooth and a link-side gear tooth, is a common phenomenon in manipulator systems with gear in their joints. However, if the amount of backlash is greater than the maximum allowed amount which is to ensure satisfactory meshing of gear, the system instability may appear in dynamic ...

BACKLASH DETECTION IN GEARED MECHANISMS: MODELING, SIMULATION, AND EXPERIMENTATION
Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 1997Abstract Backlash is a common fault that occurs in geared mechanisms, and can produce inaccuracy or uncontrollability of the mechanism. It is shown that, by modeling backlash as a microscopic impact, its presence can be detected and possibly measured using only simple sensors. The first stage of modeling establishes the need for the use of non-linear

Adaptive control of robot manipulators with anti-backlash gears
Proceedings of 1995 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002This paper proposes a control method for robot manipulators that have anti-backlash gears in the joints. The anti-backlash gear is modeled as a three segment flexible joint characteristic. A controller consists of a PD feedback part and a full dynamics feedforward part. This control method employs the sliding control scheme. In order to make the tip of

The correction of gear friction coefficients for backlash
Wear, 1978Abstract The backlash of gears changes as the centre distance between the drive shafts varies causing changes in friction losses and drive efficiency. Changes in the friction coefficient due to changes in backlash may be estimated theoretically but it was found that they require to be multiplied by a factor of about 5 to correspond to experimentally ...

Research on Vibration Responses of Gear System with Backlash
2020Gear transmission system is widely used in mechanical systems, such as joints in manipulator system. However, the vibration and noise caused by the backlash in gear pair are significant to the manipulator system. The effects of backlash on vibration characteristics the gear-rotor system are investigated numerically.

Routes to chaos in a geared system with backlash
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1990A lumped parameter torsional-bending model of a spur gear pair with backlash and time-invariant mesh stiffness is used to examine chaos. It can be shown that chaos typically exists in a lightly loaded and lightly damped gear pair when excited by the static transmission error.
