Investigation of Corrosion Behavior of Borided Gear Steels [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the Indian Institute of Metals, 2013
In this study, corrosion behaviors of GS18NiMoCr36 (GS 18) and GS32NiCrMo6.4 (GS 32) gear steels borided in Ekabor-II powder at the temperature of 950 °C for 2 and 6 h were investigated in a 6 % M HCI acid solution. The boride layer was characterized by optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction technique and the Micro-Vickers hardness tester.

A Novel High Performance Magnetic Gear with Auxiliary Silicon Steel Sheet

open access: yesCES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2022
Magnetic gear is a transmission device with novel structure. It uses the principle of magnetic field modulation to transmit torque. In view of the magnetic leakage of the magnetic gear in the process of rotation and cannot be eliminated, a magnetic gear ...

A Study on Plastic Gear of Reducing Friction Paired with Steel Gear.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 2000
Plastic gears are generally used as plastic/plastic gear pairs in a gear train except when paired with an input gear connected to a motor. For the input gear, a metal gear is usually used to bear its severe condition while this surely causes the wear at the meshing plastic gear to be largest in the gear train.

Durability and design parameters of a Steel/PEEK gear pair

open access: yesMechanism and Machine Theory, 2019
Abstract The parameters necessary for the reliable design of PEEK gears were determined. The effect of a steel gear's surface on the polymer gear's wear was investigated. Values for the wear coefficient of a steel/PEEK gear pair in dry and lubricated conditions are proposed.

A Review on Micropitting Studies of Steel Gears [PDF]

open access: yesCoatings, 2019
With the mounting application of carburized or case-hardening gears and higher requirements of heavy-load, high-speed in mechanical systems such as wind turbines, helicopters, ships, etc., contact fatigue issues of gears are becoming more preponderant.

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...
