The use of face gears in helicopter transmissions was explored. A light-weight, split torque transmission design utilizing face gears was described. Face-gear design and geometry were investigated.

Advanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.This study presents a diatom‐inspired robotic system that explores group coordination through limited physical interactions. The researchers tune groups of Barbots, simple robotic agents that possess neither individual mobility nor explicit communication capabilities, to achieve complex and adaptive collaboration based on environmental light.

Tooth-root-stress evaluation for plastic gears considering effect of contact ratio under load
Journal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and ManufacturingIn a plastic gear pair, the low rigidity of plastics can lead to a higher actual contact ratio due to tooth deflection under load compared to the geometrical one. This phenomenon contributes to a decrease in tooth root stress.
