Influences of Structural and Species Diversity on Forest Resistance to Drought

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 3, March 2026.
Forest structural richness and species evenness respectively show positive and negative relationships with forest resistance to drought. These relationships between richness and resistance and between evenness and resistance become stronger under more severe droughts.

Modeling Worldwide Tree Biodiversity Using Canopy Structure Metrics from Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation Data

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Accurately quantifying global tree biodiversity is critical for enhancing forest ecosystem management and forest biodiversity conservation. With the launch of NASA’s Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI), we evaluated the efficacy of space-borne

Unusually High Global End Diastolic Index Associated with Optimal Cardiac Index in Two Critically Ill Patients

open access: yesIntensive Care Research, 2021
The optimal management of hemodynamic disorders among critically ill patients requires an accurate assessment of hemodynamic status. Global End Diastolic Index (GEDI) is taken for a more reliable indicator of preload in critically ill patients than ...

Integrating Lab‐ and Field‐Based Approaches to Decipher Individuals' Response to Anthropogenic Change

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 3, March 2026.
We integrate laboratory assays and GPS tracking to examine consistent risk‐taking behaviour in Fan‐tailed Ravens (Corvus rhipidurus) inhabiting Israel's Dead Sea coastline. Individual risk profiles were consistent across lab and field contexts, with risk‐prone birds remaining near tourist sites and risk‐averse birds ranging farther into natural ...

The age of diversity: The neighbourhood demographic structure of ethnic groups in England and Wales, 2001–2021

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Volume 51, Issue 1, March 2026.
Short Abstract This paper explores how demographic change associated with age is a factor in the process of the ethnic diversification of neighbourhoods in England and Wales. Using Census data from 2001, 2011 and 2021, we find that ethnic diversity has increased across the age distribution nationally and in neighbourhoods as the populations of many ...

Harmonizing Terrestrial Carbon Cycle Observations Over CONUS NEON Sites: Assessing the Information Contributions of Multiple Data Constraints

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
The Workflow of the State Data Assimilation (SDA). ABSTRACT Accurate inventories of terrestrial carbon pools and fluxes are crucial for understanding ecosystem processes, tracking climate change impacts, and meeting the monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) requirements in international treaties and voluntary carbon markets.

Evaluation of GEDI footprint level biomass models in Southern African Savannas using airborne LiDAR and field measurements

open access: yesScience of Remote Sensing
Savannas cover more than 20% of the Earth and account for the third largest stock of global aboveground biomass yet estimates of their above ground biomass density (AGBD) are very inaccurate.

Retrieval and validation of vertical LAI profile derived from airborne and spaceborne LiDAR data at a deciduous needleleaf forest site

open access: yesGIScience & Remote Sensing, 2023
Leaf area index (LAI) is defined as one half of the total green leaf area per unit ground surface area. Its vertical profile is critical for understanding the remote sensing radiative transfer processes.
