Satellite-derived estimates of evapotranspiration in the Gediz basin

Journal of Hydrology, 2000
Abstract Satellite-derived estimates of the regional evapotranspiration in the Gediz basin, Turkey, are presented. The remote sensing approach applied is based on a feedback relationship in which the surface temperature is used to obtain the vapour pressure deficit in the overlying air.

General Irrigation Planning Performance of Water User Associations in the Gediz Basin in Turkey

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 2007
In this study, an evaluation has been made of the realization level of the planned targets in irrigation planning for all of the 13 water user associations WUAs of the Gediz Basin. This evaluation was made according to six performance indicators: level of realization of irrigation ratios, level of realization of crop pattern, dependability, adequacy ...

Heavy Metal Contents in the Gediz River Basin Soil: Multivariate Analysis for Source Tracing

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007
A regional geochemical data set from a 17,000 km2 in Turkey, analysed for 14 elements, was used to test the influence of different variants of factor analysis on the results extracted. Samples collected from the topsoil on the floodplain along Gediz River have been analysed for Al, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, Pb and Zn by flame atomic ...

Meteorological Drought Analysis of Upper Gediz Basin Precipitations

2018
In termsof sustainable management of water resources, the quantification of theseverity and duration of drought in river basins is of great importance. Forthis purpose, many different index methods have been developed in theliterature, but the standardized precipitation index (SPI) among them has beenthe most preferred method in practice. In this study,

Radioactivity in soils and various foodstuffs from the Gediz River Basin of Turkey

Radiation Measurements, 2007
Abstract The aim of this study is to determine the enhancement in natural radioactivity level of soils due to the usage of fertilizers, particularly phosphate fertilizers in agricultural lands of Gediz River basin, Western Turkey. In addition, the activity concentrations of naturally occurring radionuclides in some vegetables collected from the same ...

Estimation methods for crop water requirements in the Gediz Basin of western Turkey

Journal of Hydrology, 2000
Abstract As part of an intercomparison study on evapotranspiration (ET), six methods for estimating the reference ET have been applied on a cotton field in the Gediz Basin, Turkey. Using a simple water balance model, the values for actual ET were obtained in two different ways.

An approach towards the formation of Gediz River basin management plan.

2015
Dünya nüfusunun hızla artması, kentleşme, sanayileşme ve tarımsal alanlarda bilinçsiz aşırı ilaç ve gübre kullanımının beraberinde getirdiği çevre kirliliği, su kaynaklarının kalitesini bozmuş ve su kaynakları adeta atıkların boşaltıldığı alıcı ortamlar haline dönüşmüştür.
