Meteorological and Agricultural Drought Risk Assessment via Kaplan–Meier Survivability Estimator

open access: yesAgriculture
Dry periods and drought are inherent natural occurrences. However, due to the increasing pressures of global warming and climate change, these events have become more frequent and severe on a global scale.

Depositional Environment of the Amapari Marker Band: Rising Water Levels Formed Kilometer‐Scale Lake in Gale Crater, Mars

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract The Amapari Marker Band (AMB) is a layer within the Mount Sharp stratigraphy that has been mapped around the Gale crater in orbital images and was recently investigated up close by the Curiosity rover. Symmetric wave ripple marks within the AMB indicate a lacustrine depositional environment in the area investigated along the Curiosity traverse.

Late‐Stage Aqueous Activity at Gale Crater, Mars, Recorded by Sediment Fans Eroded From Aeolis Mons

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract Gale crater, the landing site of NASA's Curiosity rover, and the mountain at its center, Aeolis Mons, hosts an extensive record of sedimentary rocks, which provide a window into the climate history of Mars. Curiosity has demonstrated that Gale hosted long‐lived lakes early in its history, indicating warm, quiescent surface conditions, before ...

Competition of Palmer amaranth at different densities with cotton in Turkey

open access: yesWeed Research, Volume 65, Issue 2, March/April 2025.
Abstract Amaranthus palmeri is an invasive weed that was newly introduced to the agricultural fields of Turkey. However, no information exists in the literature about Amaranthus spp.'s competition with cotton in our country. This study assessed its competitive ability with cotton (Gossypium hirsitum) in the Aegean Region in 2020–2021.

Sedimentary facies assemblages of the Selendi Supradetachment Basin (Western Turkey): Implications for balancing subsidence and sedimentation in a Neogene lacustrine basin

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 260-280, February 2025.
The Selendi lacustrine basin developed as a supra‐detachment basin on the Simav detachment fault in response to the continental extension in western Türkiye and the associated uplift of the Menderes Massif. The facies assemblages show an aggradational stacking pattern developed throughout deposition of the basin. This stacking pattern records a balance

Determining regional actual evapotranspiration ofirrigated crops and natural vegetation in the São Francisco river basin (Brazil) using remote sensing and Penman-Monteith equation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
To achieve sustainable development a nd to ensure water availability in hydrological basins, water managers need tools to determine the actual evapotranspiration (ET) on a large scale.

Drainage Divide Migration on Asymmetrically Uplifted Horsts, Western Türkiye

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 2, February 2025.
Abstract The migration of a main drainage divide is pivotal in landscape evolution, providing key insights into how tectonic and erosional processes shape landscapes. However, the dynamics of divide migration in response to asymmetric uplift and erosion are not well constrained in natural settings compared to modeling studies.

Evaluating the role of inherited structural discontinuities in badland erosional processes with landscape evolution modelling

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 1, January 2025.
The 30‐ka landscape evolution scenarios in the Kula Badlands performed by Landscape Evolution Model (LEM) LandscApe ProcesS modelling at mUlti‐dimensions and Scales (LAPSUS) demonstrate a strong impact of spatial erodibility and sedimentability differences of lithology and faults in catchment erosion, (re)sedimentation and sediment export.

Hydrologic homogeneous regions using monthly Streamflow in Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Cluster analysis of gauged streamflow records into homogeneous and robust regions is an important tool for the characterization of hydrologic systems.

Parasitic and Viral Infection Rates in European Eels (Anguilla anguilla) in Four Spanish Mediterranean Wetlands

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ichthyology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The European eel (Anguilla anguilla L. 1758) is a migratory fish species whose populations have undergone a severe collapse in numbers in recent decades. Infectious diseases are one of the factors contributing to the decline of European eels.
