Spectroscopic Investigation of Synthetic Martian Analog Mineral Mixtures Relevant to Gale and Jezero Craters Exploration

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 12, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract We produced several mineral mixtures and measured their reflectance in the VNIR range (350–2,500 nm) with the aim of reproducing the spectral features observed by the rovers Perseverance and Curiosity in the Jezero and Gale Crater respectively.

Paleo‐Scours Within the Layered Sulfate‐Bearing Unit at Gale Crater, Mars: Evidence for Intense Wind Erosion

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract The surface of modern Mars is largely shaped by wind, but the influence of past wind activity is less well constrained. Sedimentary rocks exposed in the lower foothills of Aeolis Mons, the central mound within Gale crater, record a transition from predominantly lacustrine deposition in the Murray formation to aeolian deposition in the Mirador ...

An assessment of future climatic and anthropogenic impacts on the hydrological system of a semi‐arid catchment

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 74, Issue 2, Page 834-860, April 2025.
Abstract Climate and catchment characteristics, particularly land and water use and management, may vary according to the population growth rate, future food habits and water demands. Three climate simulations corresponding to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (A1B) were downscaled using the ‘Providing

Tracing microplastic pathways: assessing pollution in a freshwater lake with high tourist activity

open access: yesEnvironmental Sciences Europe
Lake Gölcük represents a significant natural freshwater resource within the Gediz River basin, located in the Ödemiş district of İzmir, Türkiye. The ecosystem has experienced considerable anthropogenic pressure from expanding settlements and tourism ...

Stratigraphic Revision of the Selendi, Güre, and Uşak Neogene Basins, Western Anatolia

open access: yesActa Geologica Sinica - English Edition, Volume 99, Issue 2, Page 332-351, April 2025.
Abstract In a re‐examination of the Neogene stratigraphy of the Uşak, Güre, and Selendi basins of western Anatolia, western Turkey, the stratigraphic position of the previously defined İnay Group is revised, which was previously considered to be of the Middle Miocene age.

A formulation for assessing the risk of anthropogenic drought based on drought characteristics and socioeconomic and physical factors

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 24, Issue 2, March/April 2025.
Abstract Determining the contribution of human activities to drought occurrence or aggravation of drought is an essential issue in drought risk management. Drought begins under the influence of meteorological processes and propagates to hydrological drought, which human activities affect.

Severe Impacts on Water Resources Projected for the Mediterranean Basin

open access: yesWIREs Water, Volume 12, Issue 2, March/April 2025.
Impact of climate change on water resources in the Mediterranean Basin, showing increasing (upwards arrow), decreasing (downwards arrow), and inconclusive projections (up down arrow). ABSTRACT Water resources are becoming increasingly scarce in the Mediterranean Basin due to climate change.

Late‐Stage Aqueous Activity at Gale Crater, Mars, Recorded by Sediment Fans Eroded From Aeolis Mons

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract Gale crater, the landing site of NASA's Curiosity rover, and the mountain at its center, Aeolis Mons, hosts an extensive record of sedimentary rocks, which provide a window into the climate history of Mars. Curiosity has demonstrated that Gale hosted long‐lived lakes early in its history, indicating warm, quiescent surface conditions, before ...

A village near Gediz, Hermos

open access: yes, 2015
Settlement near Gediz River in the Agean Region. Known as Hermos in the ancient Greek or Latenized as Hermus, the Gediz River is the second-largest river in Anatolia flowing into the Aegean Sea, only second to Büyük Menderes River in length. Historically

Sedimentary facies assemblages of the Selendi Supradetachment Basin (Western Turkey): Implications for balancing subsidence and sedimentation in a Neogene lacustrine basin

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 260-280, February 2025.
The Selendi lacustrine basin developed as a supra‐detachment basin on the Simav detachment fault in response to the continental extension in western Türkiye and the associated uplift of the Menderes Massif. The facies assemblages show an aggradational stacking pattern developed throughout deposition of the basin. This stacking pattern records a balance
