Strong Proton‐Phonon Coupling Drives Fast Ion Transport in Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Experimental and computational phonon analysis of ABO3‐type proton conductor BaSnO3 shows that substitution on the B‐site with yttrium forms an imaginary phonon mode which is instrumental for the function as proton conductor. This overcompensates the adverse proton trapping effect of the yttrium.

Genetic correlates of longevity and selected age-related phenotypes: a genome-wide association study in the Framingham Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND: Family studies and heritability estimates provide evidence for a genetic contribution to variation in the human life span. METHODS:We conducted a genome wide association study (Affymetrix 100K SNP GeneChip) for longevity-related traits in a ...

A Robust Serum Proteomic Signature of the E2 Allele of Apolipoprotein E

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study expands a serum protein signature of the e2 allele of APOE using multiple proteomic platforms and UK Biobank replication. The signature supports the role of APOE in lipid regulation through apolipoproteins and inflammation and includes, among others, neutrophil secreted granule proteins CAMP, CTSG, DEFA3, and MPO that point to inhibition of ...

The Adaptive Physical Activity Study in Stroke (TAPAS): A Feasibility Sequential Multiple Assignment Randomized Trial

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study examines the feasibility of a mobile health physical activity intervention for individuals post‐stroke using a sequential multiple assignment randomized trial (SMART) design. High recruitment, retention, and adherence rates are observed, with promising trends in step count, fatigue, and quality of life.

Giving and receiving help in three contexts as predictors of alcohol outcomes in a longitudinal study of sober living house residents

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Although peer support is central to the social model approach emphasized in sober living houses (SLHs), no longitudinal studies have examined helping among SLH residents. This longitudinal study examined benefits of helping in three contexts among SLH residents. Data were from 205 participants entering 28 SLHs across 2021–2023. Interviews were
