Grueneisen Ratio Divergence at the Quantum Critical Point in CeCu_{6-x}Ag_x [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 93, 096402 (2004), 2004
The heavy fermion system CeCu$_{6-x}$Ag$_x$ is studied at its antiferromagnetic quantum critical point, $x_c=0.2$, by low temperature ($T\geq 50$ mK) specific heat, $C(T)$, and volume thermal expansion, $\beta(T)$, measurements. Whereas $C/T\propto \log(T_0/T)$ would be compatible with the predictions of the itinerant spin-density-wave (SDW) theory for

Interplay of antiferromagnetism, ferromagnetism and superconductivity in EuFe_2(As_1-xP_x)_2 single crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report a systematic study on the influence of antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic phases of Eu^2+ moments on the superconducting phase upon doping the As site by isovalent P, which acts as chemical pressure on EuFe_2As_2.

Metamagnetic quantum criticality in Sr3Ru2O7 studied by thermal expansion [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 96, 136402 (2006), 2005
We report low-temperature thermal expansion measurements on the bilayer ruthenate Sr$_3$Ru$_2$O$_7$ as a function of magnetic field applied perpendicular to the Ruthenium-oxide planes. The field-dependence of the c-axis expansion coefficient indicates the accumulation of entropy close to 8 Tesla, related to an underlying quantum critical point.

Classification of materials with divergent magnetic Gr\"uneisen parameter

open access: yes, 2016
At any quantum critical point (QCP) with a critical magnetic field $H_c$, the magnetic Gr\"uneisen parameter $\Gamma_{\rm H}$, which equals the adiabatic magnetocaloric effect, is predicted to show characteristic signatures such as a divergence, sign ...

Multiple energy scales at a quantum critical point [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We report thermodynamic measurements in a magnetic-field-driven quantum critical point of a heavy fermion metal, YbRh$_2$Si$_2$. The data provide evidence for an energy scale in the equilibrium excitation spectrum, that is in addition to the one expected from the slow fluctuations of the order parameter.

Quantum criticality in the cubic heavy-fermion system CeIn_{3-x}Sn_x [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 96, 256403 (2006), 2006
We report a comprehensive study of CeIn$_{3-x}$Sn$_x$ $(0.55 \leq x \leq 0.8)$ single crystals close to the antiferromagnetic (AF) quantum critical point (QCP) at $x_c\approx 0.67$ by means of the low-temperature thermal expansion and Gr\"uneisen parameter. This system represents the first example for a {\it cubic} heavy fermion (HF) in which $T_{\rm N}
