A facile random copolymer strategy to achieve highly conductive polymer gel electrolytes for electrochemical applications

Journal of Materials Chemistry C, 2019
A facile random copolymer strategy based on poly(styrene-ran-methyl methacrylate) (PS-r-PMMA) is proposed for the preparation of highly conductive and mechanically elastic solid-state gel electrolytes.

Proton-conducting gel electrolyte

Solid State Ionics, 2002
Abstract Proton conduction in solid state xerogels and polymeric gels are reported. Xerogels, doped with known proton conductors, were prepared by “sol–gel” method starting either from inorganic precursor sodium metasilicate (termed as hydrogel) or organic precursor tetraethyl orthosilicate (termed as silica or SiO 2 alcogel). The dopants chosen for

Gel polymer electrolytes based on PMMA

Electrochimica Acta, 2001
New polymer gels (based on PMMA/PC) containing Li, Na, Mg, and Zn perchlorates were prepared. The conductivity of gels containing cations of smaller ionic radii (Li and Mg) is lower than that of the others.

Flammability of Gel Polymer Electrolytes

ECS Meeting Abstracts
Gel polymer electrolytes are promising technology for next-generation lithium batteries, offering a balance between the high ionic conductivity of liquids and the safety of polymers. Although it is often suggested that gel polymer electrolytes are safer than traditional organic electrolytes, there is a lack of systematic research available on the ...

Multifunctional Properties of Structural Gel Electrolytes

ECS Transactions, 2007
Multifunctional structural gel electrolytes were prepared by the integration of conductive pathways using non-aqueous solvents into structural resin networks. Poly(ethylene) glycol (200 MW) and propylene carbonate were used as non-aqueous solvents while vinyl ester and epoxy resin were used as structural resins.

Decoupling the Ionic Conductivity and Elastic Modulus of Gel Electrolytes: Fully Zwitterionic Copolymer Scaffolds in Lithium Salt/Ionic Liquid Solutions

Advanced Energy Materials, 2018
A critical barrier to overcome in the development of solid‐state electrolytes for lithium batteries is the trade‐off between sacrificing ionic conductivity for enhancement of mechanical stiffness.

Diffusion coefficients of electrolytes in gels

Journal of Chemical Education, 1968
This paper demonstrates how diffusion coefficients can be determined from changes in the concentration of a solution placed above a gel.

Plasticized pectin-based gel electrolytes

Electrochimica Acta, 2009
Abstract Pectin is a natural polymer present in plants and, as all natural polymers has biodegradation properties. Chemically, pectin is a polysaccharide composed of a linear chain of 1→4 linked galacturonic acids, which is esterified with methanol at 80%.

Polymer gel electrolytes for electrochromic devices

Electrochimica Acta, 1999
Abstract Elastic and sticky polymer gel electrolytes were prepared by polymerisation of methacrylate resin to which solutions, containing LiBF 4 and [(C 2 H 5 ) 4 N]BF 4 in various ratios in PC, were added, keeping the ionic strength constant. A concentration cell containing two polymer samples and two equal LiHg x electrodes was used for the ...

Electrochemistry of polyvinyl acetate gel electrolytes

Solid State Ionics, 2002
Abstract This paper describes the first example of polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) used as a gel electrolyte with a short-chain polyethylene glycol (MPEG-400) as a plasticizer. The polymer films are solid and sticky. Background cyclic voltammetry (CV) shows a potential window between +0.4 and −0.7 V vs. AgQRE.
