Green gelcasting of CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics

Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics, 2020
CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) ceramics with desirable dielectric properties were prepared by a green gelcasting forming method combined with pressureless sintering. A non-toxic natural macromolecule, glutinous rice flour (GRF) was used as the gelling agent for the gelcasting process.

Geopolymer foams by gelcasting

Ceramics International, 2014
Abstract Highly porous geopolymers, with homogeneous microstructure, open cells and porosity up to 80 vol%, were fabricated by gel-casting, a process commonly used to produce ceramic foams. Geopolymer foams were prepared by stirring an activated blend of metakaolin and fly ash with a mixture of potassium hydroxide and potassium silicate with Si/K=1 ...

Gelcasting of BeO

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
Aqueous gel-casting of beryllia using polyelectrolyte NH4PAA as a dispersant has been investigated. The effects of the dispersant amount, pH values on the surface properties of BeO powders in aqueous solvent were studied and high solids loading BeO suspension (45 vol.%) was developed.

Water-based gelcasting of lead zirconate titanate and evaluation of mechanical properties of the gelcast samples

Scripta Materialia, 2007
Gelcast and sintered bodies obtained from ovalbumin-based slurry with 45% solid loading were crack free and showed density comparable to the cold isostatically pressed (CIP) and sintered lead zirconate titanate samples. The values of average hardness, modulus of elasticity and fracture toughness of a 1200 °C sintered gelcast sample obtained by ...

Preparation of alumina by aqueous gelcasting

Ceramics International, 2004
Abstract The alumina ceramic was prepared by aqueous gelcasting. The effects of zeta potentials, solid loading, dispersant content and milling time on the alumina suspension were studied systematically. The dispersant content has remarkable effects on the viscosity of the suspension. The appropriate dispersant concentration for alumina aqueous slurry

Gelcasting of Mechanochemically Synthesized Hydroxyapatite

Key Engineering Materials, 2007
Hydroxyapatite powders were prepared via mechanochemical synthesis method. The starting reagents for HAP powders were vibration ball milled for 2 h and then calcined at 800°C for 1 h. X-ray diffraction patterns and IR spectrum shown that pure crystalline apatite powder (HAP) was obtained.

Controllable Forming Technology in Gelcasting

Materials Science Forum, 2005
Controllable forming technology is one of the key problems for the industrial application of gelcasting. In order to solve this problem, various kinds of influence factors in gelcasting were investigated. Trace ions, ionic strength, pH, dispersant agent, premix, amount of initiator and catalyst, temperature, pressure, materials of container and ...

Gelcasting of 316L stainless steel

Journal of University of Science and Technology Beijing, Mineral, Metallurgy, Material, 2007
Abstract A novel near-net process, gelcasting, was successfully used to prepare larger size 316L stainless steel parts with complex shape. In this study, the effects of process parameters on the viscosity of the slurry and the dry green strength were investigated.

Gelcasting of Non-oxide Ceramics

2020
In this chapter, the non-oxide powder surface characteristics before and after treatment, and the effect of surface modification on the solids loading of its aqueous suspension were studied. For Si3N4 powders, a universal method to prepare highly concentrated suspensions has been established.
