Processing and properties of SiC composites made via binder jet 3D printing and infiltration and pyrolysis of preceramic polymer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering &Science, Volume 2, Issue 6, Page 320-331, November 2020., 2020
The effects of polymer infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP) cycles and properties of SiC composites manufactured by a combination of binder jet 3D printing and PIP are reported. The number of PIP cycles was effectively decreased. Note the distortion‐free "7" on the puck after one PIP cycle.

Dense Alumina Ceramics Obtained by Gelcasting and Cold Isostatic Pressing with the Use of 2-Carboxyethyl Acrylate [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2018
In ceramic forming techniques high particles packing can provide better properties of the final ceramic products. The high quality of the material coupled with the shape complexity of the ceramic product is still challenging. The aim of this work was the

Percolation of single-walled carbon nanotubes in ceramic matrix nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The percolation of carbon nanotubes (CNT) in an electrical insulating ceramic is studied for the first time. The in situ synthesis of the CNT (0.2–25 vol%) by a CCVD route allows to achieve their homogeneous distribution in the spinel matrix.

Carbon nanotubes prepared in situ in a cellular ceramic by the gelcasting-foam method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The synthesis of carbon nanotubes from an oxide solid solution foam is reported for the first time. A foam of Mg0.9Co0.1Al2O4 solid solution is prepared by the gelcasting-foam method using notably mono- and di-functional acrylate monomers.

Otimização da suspensão para obtenção de cerâmicas porosas via "gelcasting" Suspension optimization in order to obtain porous ceramics through "gelcasting"

Microfabrication of High-Aspect Ratio KNN Lead-Free Piezoceramic Pillar Arrays by Aqueous Gelcasting

open access: yesCeramics, 2020
The present paper reported a novel approach for the fabrication of a high-aspect ratio (K, Na)NbO3 (KNN) piezoelectric micropillar array via epoxy gelcasting, which involves the in situ consolidation of aqueous KNN suspensions with added hydantoin epoxy ...

Densification during hot-pressing of carbon nanotube–metal–magnesium aluminate spinel nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The densification by hot-pressing of ceramic–matrix composites containing a dispersion of carbon nanotubes (CNT), mostly single-walled, is studied for the first time.
