Controlling for Unobserved Confounds in Classification Using Correlational Constraints

open access: yes, 2017
As statistical classifiers become integrated into real-world applications, it is important to consider not only their accuracy but also their robustness to changes in the data distribution. In this paper, we consider the case where there is an unobserved

Modifying Glucose Metabolism Reverses Memory Defects of Alzheimer's Disease Model at Late Stages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using spatial transcriptomics, we show that ferul enanthate (SL‐ZF‐01) reverses episodic‐like memory deficits in aged, but not young, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) mice. SL restores glucose metabolism and Glucose Transporter 1/3 expression via an ‘Aging‐AD‐Rescue’ pattern, rescuing deficits seen in aged AD mice.

PD‐1 Inhibits CD4+ TRM‐Mediated cDC1 Mobilization via Suppressing JAML in Human NSCLC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CD4+ tissue‐resident memory T cells (TRMs) in non‐small cell lung cancer recruit conventional type 1 dendritic cells via XCL1‐XCR1 signaling, orchestrating antitumor immunity. The costimulatory molecule JAML is essential for this process. PD‐1 blockade restores JAML expression and cDC1 mobilization, while JAML agonists synergize with anti‐PD‐1 therapy,

Arguing against obligatory feature inheritance: Evidence from French transitive participle agreement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this article, we accept the view that the relevant type of case/agreement features originate on phase heads, but argue against a strong view of the Percolation Hypothesis on which uninterpretable features obligatorily percolate down from a phase head ...

Extracellular Vesicle‐Delivered tRF‐His‐GTG‐1 Reprograms Neutrophil Lipophagy and Triggers Inflammation in COVID‐19

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies platelet‐derived extracellular vesicles as key immunometabolic regulators in COVID‐19. The delivery of tRF‐His‐GTG‐1 to neutrophils activates TLR8mTOR signaling, disrupts lipophagy, and amplifies NET‐mediated inflammation. Importantly, targeting this axis restores neutrophil homeostasis, offering a potential therapeutic strategy ...

Creative competence in borrowings : words of Japanese origin in Slovene

open access: yesLinguistica, 2011
Japanese has no category of gender or number. Nouns as well as adjectives have no inflection. The phonological construction of words is syllabic and there is no stress accent but pitch accent. Five vowels have short and long opposition. On the other hand,

CHB‐Induced Immune Zonation Chaos Elicited LXRα‐mediated Lipid Metabolism Disorders in Kupffer Cells to Induce Cancer Stem Cell Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By profiling the spatiotemporal hepatic landscape of CHB mouse models, the originally peri‐portal localized KCs migrated to the peri‐central in a CXCL9‐CXCR3‐dependent manner, facilitating their interaction with HBV+ hepatocytes. The interaction promoted LMD in KCs through ASGR1‐induced LXRα degradation, which, in turn, induced CSC formation via Stat3 ...

Semantic and morphophonological productivity in the Kîîtharaka gender system: A quantitative study

open access: yesGlossa
Nominal classification systems are characterized by diverse and sometimes complex gender assignment rules that interact in dynamic ways. The specifics of how gender assignment works can vary widely from language to language.

The linguistics of gender [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This chapter explores grammatical gender as a linguistic phenomenon. First, I define gender in terms of agreement, and look at the parts of speech that can take gender agreement.
