Study on combining ability of therapeutic traits in rice grains (Oryza sativa L.)
Traditional rice varieties having high flavonoids and anthocyanin traits were hybridized to high-yielding quality cultivars to assess their combining ability. Significant variation was observed among parents and hybrids for the traits studied.

Studies on gene action and combining ability in rice (Oryza sativa. L) hybrids
The study was carried out to learn about the nature of gene action and combining ability in rice hybrids for grain yield and its component traits. For this, eight lines were crossed with four testers in an L x T mating design.

Cell-free prediction of protein expression costs for growing cells [PDF]
Translating heterologous proteins places significant burden on host cells, consuming expression resources leading to slower cell growth and productivity.

Early Genes and Auxin Action [PDF]
The plant hormone IAA (or auxin) is central to the control of plant growth and development. Processes governed by auxin in concert with other plant growth regulators include development of vascular tissues, formation of lateral and adventitious roots, control of apical dominance, and tropic responses (Went and Thimann, 1937).

Decorin protein core affects the global gene expression profile of the tumor microenvironment in a triple-negative orthotopic breast carcinoma xenograft model [PDF]
Decorin, a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan gene family, exists and functions wholly within the tumor microenvironment to suppress tumorigenesis by directly targeting and antagonizing multiple receptor tyrosine kinases, such as the EGFR and ...

Chromosome variation and gene action [PDF]
The causal relationships responsible for the association of phenotypic variation with chromosomal aberrations are poorly understood. An approach to the study of the primary consequences of chromosomal imbalance is the search for deviations at the level of appropriate gene products. Recent progress in gene mapping combined with the present techniques of

Generation mean analysis and inbreeding depression in pearl millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.]
In the present investigation, nature and magnitude of gene action was analyzed in six generations (P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2) for grain yield and its attributing characters in four crosses of pearl millet.

Local expression of expansin induces the entire process of leaf development and modifies leaf shape [PDF]
Expansins are a family of extracellular proteins proposed to play a key role in wall stress relaxation and, thus, in cell and tissue growth. To test the possible function of expansins in morphogenesis, we have developed a technique that allows transient ...

Combining ability analysis and gene action in pearl millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.] [PDF]
The experiment was conducted with 50 hybrids which were developed through Line x Tester mating design using five male sterile lines and ten restorers as parental material along with two standard check hybrids, viz., Pratibha-1666 and Shradha. .
