Targeting Conserved Genes in Penicillium Species

2016
Polymerase chain reaction amplification of conserved genes and sequence analysis provides a very powerful tool for the identification of toxigenic as well as non-toxigenic Penicillium species. Sequences are obtained by amplification of the gene fragment, sequencing via capillary electrophoresis of dideoxynucleotide-labeled fragments or NGS.

The evolutionary conservation of eukaryotic gene transcription

Experientia, 1989
The basic components required for eukaryotic gene transcription have been highly conserved in evolution. Structural and functional homology has now been documented among promoters, promoter factors, regulatory proteins, and RNA polymerases from eukaryotes as diverse as yeast and mammals.

The conserved exon method for gene finding.

Proceedings. International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology, 2001
A new approach to gene finding is introduced called the "Conserved Exon Method" (CEM). It is based on the idea of looking for conserved protein sequences by comparing pairs of DNA sequences, identifying putative exon pairs based on conserved regions and splice junction signals then chaining pairs of putative exons together.
