Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A role for p53 in telomere protection
Telomeres cap the ends of chromosomes and are crucial for genome stability. The p53 protein (TP53) is a vital tumor suppressor, activating the transcription of numerous genes in response to cell stress.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Sterol gene expression in Arabidopsis [PDF]
Sterols are recognized as playing vital roles in plant development, as has been demonstrated from mutational studies. The study of the hydra mutants of Arabidopsis provides new tools to dissect sterol function in development at the molecular genetic ...

Comparative Enumeration Gene Expression
This paper is about differential gene expression measured by transcript counting methods such as SAGE or MPSS. It introduces two significance tests for detection of differential expressed tags: frequentist and Bayesian. Under the frequentist view, it is

This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Gene expression analysis in microdissected renal tissue - Current challenges and strategies [PDF]
The architecture and compartmentalization of the kidney has stimulated the development of an array of microtechniques to study the functional differences between the distinct nephron segments. With the vast amounts of genomic sequence data now available,
