Precision Editing of NLRS Improves Effector Recognition for Enhanced Disease Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Precision engineering of plant NLR immune receptors enables rational design of enhanced pathogen resistance through mismatched pairing, domain swapping, and targeted mutagenesis. These approaches achieve multi‐fold expansion in recognition breadth while minimizing autoimmunity risks and fitness penalties.

First Report of Polymorphisms and Genetic Characteristics of Prion-like Protein Gene (PRND) in Cats

open access: yesAnimals
Prion diseases are fatal neurodegenerative disorders caused by the misfolding of the normal cellular prion protein (PrPC) into its infectious isoform (PrPSc).

Examination of the Monoamine Oxidase a Gene Promoter on Motivation to Exercise and Levels of Voluntary Physical Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose: Monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) is an enzyme that causes inactivation of monoamine neurotransmitters, such as dopamine. Polymorphisms in the promoter region of the MAO-A gene can change transcriptional activity and the amount of MAO-A produced ...

Elemene Augments the Effects of Anti‐PD‐1 Immunotherapy on Hepatocellular Carcinoma by Regulating the miR‐130a‐5p/SPP/MHC‐I Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Elemene increases SPP expression by competitively binding with miR‐130a‐5p to suppress SPP mRNA degradation. This led to more antigen/MHC‐I complexes being expressed on the cell surface, which consequently facilitated the recognition and killing of HCC cells by CTLs and enhancing the antitumor immune efficacy of anti‐PD‐1.

Modulating Purothionin Accumulation and Signal Peptide Cleavage Fine‐Tunes Wheat Flour Gluten Properties to Improve Cookie‐Making Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual genetic strategies for improving wheat processing quality by regulating purothionin accumulation to modulate gluten quantity and quality. The first strategy involves targeting signal peptide (SP) cleavage sites (e.g., through mutation) to indirectly reduce gluten content, thereby disrupting gluten network formation.

Comment on “De Novo Reconstruction of 3D Human Facial Images from DNA Sequence”

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This comment examines AI‐driven DNA‐based facial reconstruction, focusing on the Difface model. While such technologies promise biomedical and forensic applications, they pose significant ethical, legal, and methodological challenges. We emphasize transparency, benchmarking, and rigorous validation to avoid misinterpretation and misuse.

Population‐Based Multi‐Omics and Cohort Study Identifying Predictive Biomarkers and Therapeutic Targets for Psoriatic Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Psoriatic disease (PsD) is a chronic skin disease, with challenges in early risk stratification and drug development. Through gene‐level causal inference framework and expression level validation, combined with longitudinal cohort study, CDSN and PRSS8 have been identified as candidate biomarkers and therapeutic targets for PsD.
