Awareness during general anaesthesia [PDF]
The author presents his personal evaluation of the nature of awareness during anaesthesia. This is primarily based on the actual cases described in the literature to date. When a patient feels pain or discomfort ( and also hears ), this must be clearly interpreted as inadequate anaesthesia.

Memory during general anaesthesia: variations in stimulus characteristics [PDF]
Evidence from studies of memory and awareness during general anaesthesia suggests that some form of cognitive functioning is preserved in surgical patients. This finding has important implications both for clinical practice and for psychological theories

Objective Body mass index (BMI), glomerular filtration rate (GFR), and pretreatment urate levels have been reported to influence the urate‐lowering response to allopurinol. We investigated whether the fractional excretion of uric acid (FEUA) also modulates this response and relates to oxypurinol concentrations.

Chaos-modified detrended moving average methodology for monitoring the depth of anaesthesia [PDF]
This paper proposes a new method to monitor the depth of anaesthesia (DoA) based on the EEG signal. This approach firstly uses discrete wavelet transform (DWT) to to remove the spikes and the low frequency noise from raw EEG signals. After de-noising the

Comparison of the qCON and qNOX indices for the assessment of unconsciousness level and noxious stimulation response during surgery [PDF]
The objective of this work is to compare the performances of two electroencephalogram based indices for detecting loss of consciousness and loss of response to nociceptive stimulation.
