The Atmosphere-Ocean General Circulation Model EMAC-MPIOM [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2011
The ECHAM/MESSy Atmospheric Chemistry (EMAC) model is coupled to the ocean general circulation model MPIOM using the Modular Earth Submodel System (MESSy) interface.

Superrotation in a Venus general circulation model [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, 2007
A superrotating atmosphere with equatorial winds of ∼35 m s−1 is simulated using a simplified Venus general circulation model (GCM). The equatorial superrotation in the model atmosphere is maintained by barotropic instabilities in the midlatitude jets which transport angular momentum toward the equator.

The Effect of Model Resolution on the Vertical and Temporal Variation in the Simulated Martian Climate

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
To study the impact of model horizontal resolution on the simulated climate of Mars, we increased the model resolution of the Mars general circulation model MarsWRF from the commonly used 5° × 5° (standard resolution, SR) to 3° × 3° (high resolution, HR).

Predication of Frost In Zabol Region Based on Simulations of General Circulation Model [PDF]

open access: yesمخاطرات محیط طبیعی, 2013
The aim of this study was to simulate the impact of climate change on frost phenomena in the Zabol station. For this purpose, the method of comparing and selecting the best model fitted to the series of general circulation models were used. At First the

Circulation type analysis of regional hydrology: the added value in using CMIP6 over CMIP5 simulations as exemplified from the MPI-ESM-LR model

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change, 2022
This study addresses the applicability of general circulation models (GCMs) in studying the impact of climate change on hydrology. The statistical downscaling of precipitation based on circulation types (CTs) derived from the fuzzy, i.e., more than one ...

Simulating future wheat yield under climate change, carbon dioxide enrichment and technology improvement in Iran. Case study: Azarbaijan region

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2015
Climate change and technology development can affect crop productivity in future conditions. Precise estimation of crops yield change as affected by climate and technology in the future is an effective approach for management strategies.

Assimilation of pseudo-tree-ring-width observations into an atmospheric general circulation model [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past, 2017
Paleoclimate data assimilation (DA) is a promising technique to systematically combine the information from climate model simulations and proxy records.

Toward Data‐Driven Weather and Climate Forecasting: Approximating a Simple General Circulation Model With Deep Learning

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2018
It is shown that it is possible to emulate the dynamics of a simple general circulation model with a deep neural network. After being trained on the model, the network can predict the complete model state several time steps ahead—which conceptually is ...

Intraseasonal Variability in an Aquaplanet General Circulation Model

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2010
An aquaplanet atmospheric general circulation model simulation with a robust intraseasonal oscillation is analyzed. The SST boundary condition resembles the observed December-April average with continents omitted, although with the meridional SST ...

Minimal modeling of the extratropical general circulation [PDF]

open access: yesTellus A, 1989
The ability of low-order, two-layer models to reproduce basic features of the mid-latitude general circulation is investigated. Changes in model behavior with increased spectral resolution are examined in detail. Qualitatively correct time-mean heat and momentum balances are achieved in a β-plane channel model which includes the first and third ...
