Spin‐Dependent Generation of Surface‐Bound Radicals Toward Selective and Long‐Lasting Water Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a novel atomic engineering strategy to fine‐tune the spin state of α‐Fe2O3 catalysts toward a medium‐spin state, thereby modulating peroxymonosulfate activation and selectively yielding surface‐bound radicals. Compared with free radicals, surface‐bound radicals exhibit moderated oxidation potential, extended lifespan, surface ...

Impacts of Atmospheric Carbon Species and Stellar Type on Climates of Terrestrial Planets

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal
The climates of terrestrial planets are largely determined by the composition of their atmospheres and the spectral types of their host stars. Previous studies suggest that a wide range of carbon species abundances (CO _2 , CO, and CH _4 ) can result ...

Evaluation of the Dual Impact of Nanotechnologies on Health and Environment Through Alternative Bridging Models

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how alternative invertebrate and small‐vertebrate models advance the evaluation of nanomaterials across medicine and environmental science. By bridging cellular and organismal levels, these models enable integrated assessment of toxicity, biodistribution, and therapeutic performance.

The Promise of Solid Lubricants for a Sustainable Future

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Lubricants are vital for technology, saving energy and resources. The industry seeks sustainable solutions beyond fossil fuels. Solid lubricants offer extremely low friction and reduce environmental impact, especially in harsh conditions. Can these solids truly replace liquid lubricants, or are they limited to extreme applications?

Constraining the Preferred-Frame $\alpha_1$, $\alpha_2$ parameters from Solar System planetary precessions

open access: yes, 2014
Analytical expressions for the orbital precessions affecting the relative motion of the components of a local binary system induced by Lorentz-violating Preferred Frame Effects (PFE) are explicitly computed in terms of the PPN parameters $\alpha_1 ...

Performance Constraints of All‐Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells in Low‐Intensity, Low‐Temperature Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
All‐perovskite tandem solar cells are evaluated under low‐intensity and low‐temperature (LILT) conditions relevant to space environments. Distinct loss regimes emerge, where weaker entropic mixing causes halide segragation below ≈240 K going along with a strong current imbalance, while poor electron transport in C60 dominates.

Fabrication Method of Directional Microstructure for High Energy Density, High Power Battery Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Aqueous directional ice templating (DIT) is developed for making NMC811 cathodes containing vertically aligned pore arrays through electrode thickness. The effects of calendering are studied for the DIT electrodes to find optimal calendering and simultaneously achieve high gravimetric and volumetric energy densities and rate capability for lithium ion ...

Particle Sedimentation in a Fluid at Low Reynolds Number: A Generalization of Hindered Settling Described by a Two‐Phase Continuum Model

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Particle‐fluid separation by settling is a ubiquitous process in Earth and Planetary Sciences. The settling velocity of particles is controlled by a balance between buoyancy and drag forces.
