Abstract Chapter 1 faces a problem Maimon thinks Kant should have better addressed in the Critique of Pure Reason and suggests a solution. The problem is that the critical philosophy must justify, de novo, the laws and rules of formal logic as the a priori science of the form of all possible rational cognition.
