Statins induce monocytic differentiation in acute myeloid leukemia cells through the KLF4/DPYSL2A axis

Statins, identified via the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database, promote monocytic differentiation and apoptosis in non‐APL AML cells by upregulating DPYSL2A through a KLF4‐dependent pathway. Mevalonate supplementation reversed these effects, indicating involvement of the mevalonate pathway.

We present the case of a man in his 70s who developed acute confusion from hypertensive encephalopathy triggered by indomethacin. He was recently prescribed indomethacin, a non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drug (NSAID) for headaches.

Microbial profile of the appendix niche in acute appendicitis: a novel sampling approach

This study utilized a novel sampling method, ERAT (i.e. endoscopic retrograde appendicitis treatment)‐guided lumen aspiration, to obtain samples from the appendix, and shotgun metagenomic sequencing was performed for in situ characterization of the appendix microbiome in patients with acute appendicitis.
