Epigenetic‐Based Evidence for Distinct Effects of Age, Sex, and Experience in Developmental Critical Period Learning

open access: yesDevelopmental Neurobiology, Volume 86, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Although much is known about the encoding of experience, how the brain organizes neural circuits capable of learning and memory formation is largely unstudied. Canonical critical periods emerge from a convergence of maturation‐ and experience‐dependent processes.

Comparison of Different Fruit Shapes of Lanxangia tsaoko: Differences and Relevance of Phenotypes, Antioxidant Activities, and Physicochemical Information

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
This study selected three fruit types of LT, including PCS, ES, and LFS. We examined the phenotypes and physicochemical components, volatile substances, non‐volatile substances, and FT‐NIRS characteristics of the three fruit types. Based on FT‐NIRS, an SVM model was established for the rapid identification of LT fruit types.

Faith, gender and financial investment: Providence and Presbyterianism in Scotland and abroad

open access: yesAsia‐Pacific Economic History Review, Volume 66, Issue 2, Page 152-174, July 2026.
Abstract Mid‐nineteenth century fictional representations of misdirected investment by widows and clergy position them as ignorant in financial matters and hence pitiable. Sexual prejudice declined across generational cohorts and genders: A cohort sequential latent growth curve model from 2014 to 2024

Abstract Despite attitudes towards the LGBTQIA+ community improving in recent years, older (vs younger) cohorts still report higher rates of sexual prejudice. Disturbing dreams and dementia incidence across diverse cohort studies: A COSMIC collaboration study

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, Volume 80, Issue 7, Page 566-574, July 2026.
Aim Distressing dreams were previously reported to predict future all‐cause dementia among predominantly white US participants aged 79–89 years, particularly in men. We investigated whether disturbing dreams (nightmares and bad dreams) were associated with all‐cause and Alzheimer dementia (AD) among individuals aged 60–89 years from diverse ...
