Life‐Like Ferrous Oxide Microspheres from Kombucha

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Kombucha bacterial cellulose, sodium alginate, and ferrous nitrate self‐assemble into membrane‐enclosed iron oxide microspheres. These microspheres bud daughter vesicles, sustain 24‐h electrochemical oscillations, and filter theta‐band signals.

Gravitation and relativity

open access: yes, 1976
Gravitation and Relativity generalizes Isaac Newton's theory of gravitation using the elementary tools of Albert Einstein's special relativity. Topics covered include gravitational waves, martian electrodynamics, relativistic gravitational fields and ...

Geometrizing gravity and vice-versa: the force of a formulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
It is well-known that Newton’s theory of gravity, commonly held to describe a gravitational force, can be recast in a geometrical form: Newton- Cartan theory.

Smart Electrospun Nanofibers for Controlled Oil‐Water Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Stimuli‐responsive electrospun nanofibers are reviewed as advanced platforms for controlled oil/water separation. The effects of surface wettability, porous structure, and external stimuli, including pH, temperature, gas, and light, on separation performance are discussed.

Millifluidic Synthesis of Core–Shell Resonators For Tunable Sonic BandGaps in Acoustic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Millimeter‐scale core–shell acoustic resonators are fabricated by a gravity‐assisted dripping approach and incorporated into epoxy composites at controlled volume fractions. The resulting alumina–core resonator composites show tunable low‐frequency acoustic attenuation, demonstrating a scalable route for integrating locally resonant metamaterial units ...

Programmable Variable‐Stiffness Multilayer Elastomer Composites With High‐Aspect‐Ratio Low‐Melting‐Point Alloy Inclusions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
High‐aspect‐ratio low‐melting‐point alloy inclusions are embedded within multilayer silicone laminates to create thermally programmable stiffness. Sequential activation of alloy‐rich layers produces four distinct mechanical states and reconfigures tendon‐driven actuator trajectories under the same load.

Topics in the Foundations of General Relativity and Newtonian Gravitation Theory

open access: yes, 2012
In Topics in the Foundations of General Relativity and Newtonian Gravitation Theory, David B. Malament presents the basic logical-mathematical structure of general relativity and considers a number of special topics concerning the foundations of general ...

The Nontriviality of Trivial General Covariance: How Electrons Restrict 'Time' Coordinates, Spinors (Almost) Fit into Tensor Calculus, and 7/16 of a Tetrad Is Surplus Structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
It is a commonplace in the philosophy of physics that any local physical theory can be represented using arbitrary coordinates, simply by using tensor calculus. On the other hand, the physics literature often claims that spinors \emph{as such} cannot be

Hybrid Additive Manufacturing of Highly Stretchable Bottlebrush Polymer Nanocomposites by Decoupled Extrusion and Photopatterning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A Hybrid Direct Ink Writing–Digital Light Processing (HDD) strategy decouples material extrusion from shape definition, enabling high‐fidelity additive manufacturing of highly viscous, yield‐stress polymer nanocomposites. Excess ink acts as a removable, self‐supporting scaffold, allowing fabrication of unsupported and embedded complex architectures ...

Teaching general relativity theory in high school: why, what and how

open access: yesRevista de Enseñanza de la Física, 2017
In this work, which is part of a wider research, the problem of teaching the General Theory of Relativity in sec-ondary school is addressed, even though this theory is scarcely addressed even in physics degree courses.
