Generalized Ginis and Cooperative Bargaining Solutions
Econometrica, 1994In a bargaining problem with \(n\) participants, each possible outcome can be characterized by an \(n\)-vector \(u= (u_1,\dots, u_n)\) consisting of the participants' utilities. The problem is to choose a vector \(u\) (or several vectors \(u\)) from the set \(U\subseteq \mathbb{R}^n\) of possible utility vectors (i.e, to choose an outcome).

Solution Sensitivity from General Principles
SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2001Summary: We present a generic approach for the sensitivity analysis of solutions to parameterized finite-dimensional optimization problems. We study differentiability and continuity properties of quasi-solutions (stationary points or stationary point-multiplier pairs), as well as their existence and uniqueness, and the issue of when quasi-solutions are

One of the most fundamental solutions in continuous medium mechanics is the solution of the problem of action of a concentrated force in an infinite, unbounded body. In classical elastic bodies the problem is known under the name of Kelvin’s problem and the solutions is usually achieved with the aid of Love’s stress function.

The disjunctive scheduling problem which will be treated more closely in the next chapter is a combinatorial search and optimization problem. This chapter provides an overview of some popular methods for solving these kinds of problems. Since many of them can be modelled as special subclasses of the constraint satisfaction or constraint optimization ...

Before getting to this third decision-making step, decision makers would have completed a thorough and accurate analysis of the previous two process steps. Completion of the first process step would have resulted in a list of current state situations and their conditions that triggered the desire for change to a more positive future state situation ...
