General theory of the higher-order quaternion linear difference equations via the complex adjoint matrix and the quaternion characteristic polynomial

Journal of Difference Equations and Applications, 2021
Since the non-commutativity and particular structure of the quaternion algebra, the quternion difference equations (short for QDCEs) have a large difference from the classical theory of difference ...

General theory of the higher-order linear quaternion q-difference equations through the quaternion determinant algorithm and the characteristic polynomial

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 2023
The general theory of quaternion q-difference equations is completely different from traditional q-difference equations in the complex space for the special algebraic structure of the quaternion space, such as the non-commutativity of multiplication among elements.

General theory of the solutions of the equations of motion of an elastic medium of different moduli

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1985
Consider the one dimensional partial differential equation \(u_{tt}=(u_ x-a| u_ x|)_ x\) with \(a=const.\), which describes the longitudinal motion of an elastic medium. Depending upon the value of a, the medium will be of different modulii, granular or elasto-plastic and will be applicable to geophysical and two-phases systems. The general solution is

A General Systems Theory of Marriage: Nonlinear Difference Equation Modeling of Marital Interaction

Personality and Social Psychology Review, 2002
This article describes a new mathematical approach for modeling the prediction of divorce or marital stability from marital interaction using nonlinear difference equations. The approach is quite general for modeling social interaction, and can be applied to any time series data generated over time for two individuals.

The General Theory of Linear Difference Equations over the Max‐Plus Semi‐Ring

Studies in Applied Mathematics, 2006
We present the mathematical theory underlying systems of linear difference equations over the max‐plus semi‐ring. The result provides an analog of isomonodromy theory for ultradiscrete Painlevé equations, which are extended cellular automata, and provide evidence for their integrability.
