General theory of the solutions of the equations of motion of an elastic medium of different moduli
Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1985Consider the one dimensional partial differential equation \(u_{tt}=(u_ x-a| u_ x|)_ x\) with \(a=const.\), which describes the longitudinal motion of an elastic medium. Depending upon the value of a, the medium will be of different modulii, granular or elasto-plastic and will be applicable to geophysical and two-phases systems. The general solution is

A General Systems Theory of Marriage: Nonlinear Difference Equation Modeling of Marital Interaction
Personality and Social Psychology Review, 2002This article describes a new mathematical approach for modeling the prediction of divorce or marital stability from marital interaction using nonlinear difference equations. The approach is quite general for modeling social interaction, and can be applied to any time series data generated over time for two individuals.

The General Theory of Linear Difference Equations over the Max‐Plus Semi‐Ring
Studies in Applied Mathematics, 2006We present the mathematical theory underlying systems of linear difference equations over the max‐plus semi‐ring. The result provides an analog of isomonodromy theory for ultradiscrete Painlevé equations, which are extended cellular automata, and provide evidence for their integrability.
