Comprehensive Surrogate Models for Predicting the Melt Conveying Characteristics of Channel Segments in High‐Performance Single‐Screw Extruders

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 66, Issue 2, Page 716-738, February 2026.
Generalized analytical equations were developed that accurately predict the local pumping characteristics, viscous dissipation, and average shear rates in channels of both conventional and high‐performance single‐screw extruders. Applied within segmented extruder calculations, these models aid in screw design and process troubleshooting without the ...

The DNA of Calabi–Yau Hypersurfaces

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 74, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Genetic Algorithms are implemented for triangulations of four‐dimensional reflexive polytopes, which induce Calabi–Yau threefold hypersurfaces via Batyrev's construction. These algorithms are shown to efficiently optimize physical observables such as axion decay constants or axion–photon couplings in string theory compactifications.

Are less hierarchical firms organized around stronger cultures? Evidence from big data

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 463-493, February 2026.
Abstract Research Summary Are less hierarchical firms organized around stronger cultures instead? We analyze 1.5 million employee reviews on Glassdoor.com from 23,000 US‐based firms, alongside data on managerial hierarchy estimated from 42 million professional social media profiles.

Restoring Mediterranean heathlands for declining birds: Initial responses to mosaic cutting and prescribed burning in the Natura 2000 LIFE program

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 2, February 2026.
Initial responses of open habitat birds indicate that mechanical cutting and burning in heathlands can maintain habitat to support open habitat bird species when applied in a mosaic approach. Vegetation treatments that resemble historic disturbance regimes (spatially and temporally staggered small‐scale interventions) are recommended to regenerate ...

Micrography and XRF Techniques to Investigate Protohistoric Gold Artifacts: The Case of Roca Vecchia (Lecce, Italy)

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 68, Issue 1, Page 51-63, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Protohistoric gold findings from the archaeological site of Roca Vecchia (Melendugno, Lecce, Italy) are analyzed involving micrography and stratified XRF analysis. This exploitation allows to get a deeper insight into ancient gold manufacturing and wear processes adopted in the Southern Italian FBA.
