Heat generation in a Couette-Taylor flow multicylinder system

Thermophysics and Aeromechanics, 2019
The paper presents the results of an experimental study of energy production in the Couette-Taylor heat generator with independent rotation of cylinders: the system is applied to solving the problem of direct conversion of wind energy into thermal energy. The system consists of two nested multicylinder rotors.

A generalized couette-type flow with variable viscosity

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1966
Abstract In the present paper, a study is made of liquid flow with variable viscosity in plane and annular channels, liquid being injected or sucked through their porous surfaces. The solution is obtained of the dynamic and thermal problems for the case in which the flow is caused by a longitudinal pressure gradient and motion of one of the channel ...

General features of granular Couette flow and intruder dynamics

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2005
This paper reports on the behaviour of uniform granular particles of diameter d undergoing a gravity-free shear flow induced through parallel bumpy boundaries that move in opposite directions at constant velocity U. Non-equilibrium, discrete simulations are performed, in which particles are modelled as inelastic, frictional spheres.

On generalised MHD couette flow with heat transfer

Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1966
In the case of short-circuited generalised MHD Couette flow the rate of heat transfer, in general, increases with the increase in the value of both the Hartmann number and the pressure gradient. Especially, at the lower stationary plate it is affected by the magnetic field, which is not observed in the case of plane MHD Couette flow.

Generalized couette flow with suction and injection

Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1977
PART A: The unsteady viscous incompressible flow between two parallel flat plates with suction and injection in presence of a pressure gradient is studied.

Generalized annular Couette flow of a power-law fluid

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1991
The steady laminar axial flow of a power-law non-Newtonian fluid in the annular space between two long coaxial cylinders, with one of them in motion and an imposed pressure gradient, is studied. The pressure gradient may assist or oppose the drag on the fluid due to the moving cylinder.

Linear stability analysis of generalized Couette–Poiseuille flow: the neutral surface and critical properties

Journal of Fluid Mechanics
We discuss the modal, linear stability analysis of generalized Couette–Poiseuille (GCP) flow between two parallel plates moving with relative speed in the presence of an applied pressure gradient vector inclined at an angle $0\leqslant \phi \leqslant 90^\

Generalized Couette flow in channels of irregular cross‐section

Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers, 1987
Abstract The flow behavior of non‐Newtonian power‐law fluids in channels of irregular cross‐section is examined. The driving force of the flow may be a constant pressure gradient (Poiseuille flow), a moving boundary (Couette flow) or the combination of the two (generalized Couette flow).

Entropy generation analysis of particle suspension induced by Couette flow

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2015
Abstract This paper describes the behavior of nanoparticle suspension under shear with non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (MD) approach. Couette flow with constant shear rate is applied to calculate its particle distribution and analyze its effect on velocity and viscosity.
