StackDPP: a stacking ensemble based DNA-binding protein prediction model

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics
Background DNA-binding proteins (DNA-BPs) are the proteins that bind and interact with DNA. DNA-BPs regulate and affect numerous biological processes, such as, transcription and DNA replication, repair, and organization of the chromosomal DNA.

ANALISIS DATA INFLASI DI INDONESIA MENGGUNAKAN MODEL REGRESI SPLINE

open access: yesMedia Statistika, 2013
The inflation data is one of the financial time series data that has a high volatility, so if the data is modeled with parametric models (AR, MA and ARIMA), sometimes occur problems because there was an assumption that cannot be satisfied.

Generalized cross validation for wavelet thresholding

open access: yes, 1995
oisy data are often fitted using a smoothing parameter, controling the importance of two objectives that are opposite to a certain extend. One of these two is smoothness and the other is closeness to the input data. The optimal value of this paramater minimizes the error of the result (as compared to the unknown, exact data), usually expressed in the ...

Cancer cell‐intrinsic type 1 interferon: production, signaling, and outcomes within sex‐biased, female malignancies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cell‐autonomous roles of interferon type 1 vary based on duration and intensity. While acute, robust signaling results in cancer cell cytotoxic effects, sustained, low‐level signaling is associated with tumor‐promoting effects. This review summarizes current research of IFN‐1 in cancer and within the clinical setting, with an emphasis on female ...

Comparison of Statistical Approaches for Modelling Land-Use Change

open access: yesLand, 2018
Land-use change can have local-to-global environment impacts such as loss of biodiversity and climate change as well as social-economic impacts such as social inequality.

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Asymptotic Optimality for $C_p, C_L$, Cross-Validation and Generalized Cross-Validation: Discrete Index Set

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1987
Let \(X_ i\) be independent random variables with means \(m_ i\), \(1\leq i\leq n\), and common variance \(\sigma^ 2\). The mean vector m is to be estimated by an element of a given finite set of linear estimators \(\hat m,\) \(\hat m\) shall be chosen such that \(L_ n(\hat m)=n^{-1} \| m- \hat m\|^ 2\) is a minimum.

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Identifying multilevel predictors of behavioral outcomes like park use: A comparison of conditional and marginal modeling approaches.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
This study compared marginal and conditional modeling approaches for identifying individual, park and neighborhood park use predictors. Data were derived from the ParkIndex study, which occurred in 128 block groups in Brooklyn (New York), Seattle ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...
