Epidemics with general generation interval distributions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical Biology, 2010
We study the spread of susceptible-infected-recovered (SIR) infectious diseases where an individual's infectiousness and probability of recovery depend on his/her "age" of infection. We focus first on early outbreak stages when stochastic effects dominate and show that epidemics tend to happen faster than deterministic calculations predict.

Extended New Generalized Lindley Distribution

open access: yesStatistica, 2016
In this paper, we consider an extended version of new generalized Lindley distribution (NGLD). We refer to this new generalization as the extended new generalized Lindley distribution (ENGLD). A comprehensive account of the mathematical properties of the

On Nurowski's conformal structure associated to a generic rank two distribution in dimension five

open access: yes, 2007
For a generic distribution of rank two on a manifold $M$ of dimension five, we introduce the notion of a generalized contact form. To such a form we associate a generalized Reeb field and a partial connection. From these data, we explicitly constructed a

Generalized functions beyond distributions [PDF]

open access: yesArabian Journal of Mathematics, 2014
Ultrafunctions are a particular class of functions defined on a Non Archimedean field R^{*}\supset R. They have been introduced and studied in some previous works ([1],[2],[3]). In this paper we introduce a modified notion of ultrafunction and we discuss sistematically the properties that this modification allows. In particular, we will concentrated on

The Bivariate Generalized Rayleigh Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences and Modelling, 2019
This paper introduces a new bivariate distribution named the bivariate generalized Rayleigh distribution (BVGR). The proposed distribution is of type of Marshall-Olkin (MO) distribution.

Generalized Sichel Distribution and Associated Inference [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2017
In this paper, we propose a generalized form of Sichel distribution which is obtained by mixing the Poisson distribution with the extended generalized inverse Gaussian distribution.

k-Generalized Statistics in Personal Income Distribution

open access: yes, 2007
Starting from the generalized exponential function $\exp_{\kappa}(x)=(\sqrt{1+\kappa^{2}x^{2}}+\kappa x)^{1/\kappa}$, with $\exp_{0}(x)=\exp(x)$, proposed in Ref. [G. Kaniadakis, Physica A \textbf{296}, 405 (2001)], the survival function $P_{>}(x)=\exp_{\

ν-Generalized Hyperbolic Distributions

open access: yesJournal of Risk and Financial Management, 2023
A new class of probability distributions closely connected to generalized hyperbolic distributions is introduced. It is better adapted for studying the distributions of sums of a random number of random variables. The properties of these distributions are studied. It seems that this class may be useful for modeling asset returns.

Investigating Generalized Parton Distribution in Gravity Dual

open access: yes, 2011
Generalized parton distribution (GPD) contains rich information of partons in a hadron, including transverse profile, and is also non-perturbative information necessary in describing a variety of hard processes, such as meson leptoproduction and double ...
