Extreme events and event size fluctuations in biased random walks on networks

open access: yes, 2012
Random walk on discrete lattice models is important to understand various types of transport processes. The extreme events, defined as exceedences of the flux of walkers above a prescribed threshold, have been studied recently in the context of complex ...

Adaptive Novelty Detection with Generalized Extreme Value Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes2018 International Conference on Applied Electronics (AE), 2018
This paper introduces the new adaptive novelty detection method. The proposed method is using generalized extreme value distribution to evaluate the absolute value of adaptive system weight increments in time. The detection of novelty is threshold-based and the threshold $\zeta$ corresponds to the value of joint probability density function ...

Effects of Cancer Treatment on Somatosensory and Nociceptive Processing in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chemotherapy‐induced peripheral neuropathy remains a major complication in pediatric cancer, with disrupted somatosensory and nociceptive processing being a key aspect. This review synthesizes empirical studies on alterations in somatosensory and nociceptive processing in children and adolescents with cancer.

Reference Priors for the Generalized Extreme Value Distribution

open access: yesStatistica Sinica
Summary: We derive a collection of reference prior distributions for a Bayesian analysis under the three-parameter generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution. These priors are based on an established formal definition of oninformativeness. They depend on the ordering of the three parameters, and we show that the GEV is unusual in that some orderings ...

Parent Quality of Life at Two Years Following Their Child's Completion of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Parents of children treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often experience significant caregiver burden and disruption to their well‐being. While parent quality of life (QoL) during treatment is well characterized, little is known about outcomes during early survivorship.

Probability Statistical Model for Measured Ground Motion Based on Generalized Extreme Value Distribution

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao
To develop a probability distribution model of peak ground acceleration, 255365 ground motion recordings are collected from 500 stations to create initial statistical samples of peak ground acceleration.

Revisiting the link between extreme sea levels and climate variability using a spline-based non-stationary extreme value analysis

open access: yesWeather and Climate Extremes, 2021
Non-stationary extreme value analysis is a powerful framework to address the problem of time evolution of extremes and its link to climate variability as measured by different climate indices CI (like North Atlantic Oscillation NAO index).

Multimodel Response Assessment for Monthly Rainfall Distribution in Some Selected Indian Cities Using Best Fit Probability as a Tool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We carry out a study of the statistical distribution of rainfall precipitation data for 20 cites in India. We have determined the best-fit probability distribution for these cities from the monthly precipitation data spanning 100 years of observations ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
