Generalized solutions of an equation with fractional derivatives

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Applied Mathematics, 2009
We consider an equation with left and right fractional derivatives which appears as a mathematical model in the mechanics. The type of equations that we analyse appear, as a rule, in variational problems containing fractional derivatives. We look for solutions in a suitably defined sub-space of distributions which is sufficient to enclose different ...

On generalized composite fractional q-derivative

open access: yes, 2015
In the present paper, we define a generalized composite fractional q-derivative D^{\alpha,\beta,\nu}_q and obtain some results for it. These results are image of power function under D^{\alpha,\beta,\nu}_q,  composition of Riemann-Liouville type ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Generalized solutions of the fractional Burger’s equation

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
We investigate the solutions for the fractional Burger’s equation based on the Jumarie fractional derivative using Bernoulli polynomials. We find general solutions for such problems. Comparison with other methods is presented.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

A New Mixed Fractional Derivative with Applications in Computational Biology

open access: yesComputation
This study develops a new definition of a fractional derivative that mixes the definitions of fractional derivatives with singular and non-singular kernels.

Semi- analytic numerical method for solution of time-space fractional heat and wave type equations with variable coefficients

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2017
The time and space fractional wave and heat type equations with variable coefficients are considered, and the variable order derivative in He‘s fractional derivative sense are taken. The utility of the homotopy analysis fractional sumudu transform method

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.
