Properties of Conditionally Independent Generalized Gamma Distributions

Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 1989
Models of life time observations that have conditionally independent generalized gamma distributions are investigated. Positive dependency among the unconditional joint distribution is discussed. General formula for moment inequalities are given.

Characterization of generalized Gamma-Lindley distribution using truncated moments of order statistics

, 2021
Having only two parameters, the Gamma-Lindley distribution does not provide enough flexibility for analyzing different types of lifetime data. From this perspective, in order to further enhance its flexibility, we set forward in this paper a new class of

Bayesian Reference Analysis for the Generalized Gamma Distribution

IEEE Communications Letters, 2018
In this letter, we present a Bayesian reference analysis for the generalized gamma distribution by using a reference prior, which has important properties such as one-to-one invariance under reparametrization, consistent marginalization, consistent ...

Speckle Filtering by Generalized Gamma Distribution

2009 Fifth International Joint Conference on INC, IMS and IDC, 2009
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image contains undesired artifacts in the form of a granular look, which is called speckle. Methods previously proposed for speckle noise filtering suffer from two major limitations: 1) noise attenuation is not sufficient, especially in the smooth and background areas; 2) existing methods do not preserve or enhance edges ...

Gamma mixture of generalized error distribution

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2019
A new symmetric heavy-tailed distribution, namely gamma mixture of generalized error distribution is defined by scaling generalized error distribution with gamma distribution, its probability densi...

Log-gamma-generated families of distributions

Statistics, 2012
We introduce two new general families of continuous distributions, generated by a distribution F and two positive real parameters α and β which control the skewness and tail weight of the distribution. The construction is motivated by the distribution of k-record statistics and can be derived by applying the inverse probability integral transformation ...

A Characterization of the Generalized Gamma Distribution

Calcutta Statistical Association Bulletin, 1984
A characterizing property of the generalized gamma distribution based on a conditional distribution has been studied in this work following a similar approach presented by Patil and Seshadri (1964). As a particular case a characterization of the Weibull distribution has alse been covered.

DEVELOPING GENERALIZED LINEAR MODEL OF GAMMA-PARETO DISTRIBUTION

Far East Journal of Mathematical Sciences (FJMS), 2016
Summary: This paper discusses about developing generalized linear model (GLM) of Gamma-Pareto (G-P) distribution. It is shown that G-P is a member of exponential family distribution. Consequently, we can develop GLM based on G-P. With \(\log(\gamma/\min(\gamma))\) as response variable, the GLM has inverse, identity, and log link functions.

New Stieltjes classes involving generalized gamma distributions

Statistics & Probability Letters, 2004
Let \(F\) be an absolutely continuous distribution function with density \(f\) having support on the positive reals \(\mathbb{R}_+\). It is assumed that all the moments of \(F\) exist and are finite, but that they do not single out the distribution \(F\). The Stieltjes class for \(f\), see \textit{J. Stoyanov} [J. Appl. Tolerance Limits for the Generalized Gamma Distribution

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1965
Abstract One-sided tolerance limits are developed for the three-parameter generalized gamma distribution of Stacy, one parameter at a time being assumed unknown. This distribution includes the exponential, gamma, and Weibull distributions as special cases. Confidence limits for the unknown parameter are also given in each case.
