Inference in the Generalized Gamma and Log Gamma Distributions
Technometrics, 1980This paper is concerned with the problem of obtaining confidence intervals or tests of significance for the parameters or other characteristics of the generalized gamma distribution. Procedures are given whereby confidence intervals for the parameters, quantiles or the reliability (survivor) function of the distribution can be obtained, when the ...

The general-gamma distribution and reaction times
Journal of Mathematical Psychology, 1965Abstract The general-gamma distribution describes input-output times in a multistage process consisting of exponential components whose constants are all different. The distribution and its unique history are examined. A stochastic process that leads to it is presented.

A generalized skew slash distribution via gamma-normal distribution
Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2016In this paper, we introduce a generalization of the slash distribution via the gamma-normal distribution. We define the new slash distribution by relation of a gamma-normal random variable with respect to a power of a uniform random variable. The newly defined distribution generalizes the slash distribution and is more flexible in terms of its kurtosis

On a bivariate generalized gamma distribution
2013A bivariate generalized gamma distribution (with marginal distributions of a gamma generalized type) is obtained from a bivariate normal distribution by means of a transformation. The analytic form of the joint density function presents symmetry between the marginal variables and a single non linear correlation parameter.

Parameter Estimation for a Generalized Gamma Distribution
Technometrics, 1965It is fairly commonplace in reliability analyses to encounter data which is incompatible with the exponential, Weibull, and other familiar probability models. Such data motivates research to enlarge the group of probability distributions which are useful to the reliability analyst. In this paper, we examine a three-parameter generalization of the gamma

Bounds for Generalized Gamma Distributed Fading Channels
IEEE Communications Letters, 2011In this article, upper bounds for the outage probability and moment generating functions of the fading channels with α-μ distribution are derived. The proposed upper bound for the moment generating function is used in the performance evaluation of M-PSK communication systems. The derived expressions are simple to use and do not require complex software

Random sampling from the generalized gamma distribution
Computing, 1979This paper presents a simple and easy to implement algorithm for sampling from the generalized four parameter gamma distribution proposed by Stacy. The proposed method is based on a generalization of Von Neumann's rejection method where the first stage sampling is done from the log logistic distribution. The proposed method is simple, easy to implement
