Gibbs Sampler for Matrix Generalized Inverse Gaussian Distributions

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Graphical Statistics, 2023
Sampling from matrix generalized inverse Gaussian (MGIG) distributions is required in Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms for a variety of statistical models. However, an efficient sampling scheme for the MGIG distributions has not been fully developed.

Defect Analysis of the β– to γ–Ga2O3 Phase Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of defects at all the relevant stages of the β$\beta$‐ to γ$\gamma$‐Ga2O3 polymorph transition is investigated using a multi method approach. The positron annihilation spectroscopy based results show that the defect density decreases after the transition, and that changes in defect configuration within the γ phase occur with increasing ...

Student's $t$-test for scale mixture errors

open access: yes, 2006
Generalized t-tests are constructed under weaker than normal conditions. In the first part of this paper we assume only the symmetry (around zero) of the error distribution (i). In the second part we assume that the error distribution is a Gaussian scale

Modulating Electrochemical CO2 Reduction Pathways via Interfacial Electric Field

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering interfacial electric fields in Cu/ITO electrodes enables precise control of CO2 reduction pathways. Charge transfer from Cu to ITO generates positively charged Cu species that steer selectivity from ethylene toward methane. This work demonstrates how interfacial electric‐field modulation can direct reaction intermediates and transform ...

A new generalized inverse Gaussian distribution with Bayesian estimators

open access: yesDiscover Data
A new family of distributions, called the transformed inverse Gaussian (TIG) distribution with four parameters, is introduced. Within this family, a specific distribution called the new generalized inverse Gaussian (NGIG) distribution, with three ...

On skewed, leptokurtic returns and pentanomial lattice option valuation via minimal entropy martingale measure

open access: yesCogent Economics & Finance, 2017
This article develops, a lattice-based approach for pricing contingent claims when parameters governing the logs of the underlying asset dynamics are modelled by generalized hyperbolic distribution and normal inverse Gaussian distribution.

Velocity Distribution of Topological Defects in Phase-Ordering Systems

open access: yes, 1997
The distribution of interface (domain-wall) velocities ${\bf v}$ in a phase-ordering system is considered. Heuristic scaling arguments based on the disappearance of small domains lead to a power-law tail, $P_v(v) \sim v^{-p}$ for large v, in the ...

Understanding Decoherence of the Boron Vacancy Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
State‐of‐the‐art computations unravel the intricate decoherence dynamics of the boron vacancy center in hexagonal boron nitride across magnetic fields from 0 to 3 T. Five distinct regimes emerge, dominated by nuclear spin interactions, revealing optimal coherence times of 1–20 µs in the 180–350 mT range for isotopically pure samples.

Non-Gaussian fluctuations in stochastic models with absorbing barriers

open access: yes, 2011
The dynamics of a one-dimensional stochastic model is studied in presence of an absorbing boundary. The distribution of fluctuations is analytically characterized within the generalized van Kampen expansion, accounting for higher order corrections beyond

Decoupling Size and Electronic Effects in Doped SrTiO3 Photocatalysts Through Surface Area–Normalized CO2 Hydrogenation Rates

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Exploring the photocatalytic reverse water–gas shift (RWGS) reaction on doped SrTiO3 nanoparticle films, reveals that normalizing catalytic rates by the catalyst's specific surface area (SSA) disentangled surface area effects from the catalyst's intrinsic material properties.
