Generalized Halfspaces in the Mixed-Integer Realm

open access: yesNotre Dame Journal of Formal Logic, 2009
In the ordered Abelian group of reals with the integers as a distinguished subgroup, the projection of a finite intersection of generalized halfspaces is a finite intersection of generalized halfspaces. The result is uniform in the integer coefficients and moduli of the initial generalized halfspaces.

Beating the Standard Quantum Limit With Single‐Photon‐Added Coherent States

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
The standard quantum limit (SQL) defines how quantum fluctuations of light constrain measurement precision. Here, we show that injecting a single‐photon‐added coherent state and a weak coherent state in the input ports of a Mach–Zehnder interferometer reduces phase uncertainty below the SQL.

9-Modularity and GCD Properties of Generalized Fibonacci Numbers

open access: yes, 2014
: We study 9-modularity properties of generalized Fibonacci numbers that give rise to well-known quasigroups. In this paper we also study GCD and divisibility properties of generalized Fibonacci numbers.

On the Frobenius Number of Fibonacci Numerical Semigroups

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper we compute the Frobenius number of certain Fibonacci numerical semigroups, that is, numerical semigroups generated by a set of Fibonacci numbers, in terms of Fibonacci ...

Comparative cranial biomechanics reveal macroevolutionary trends in theropod dinosaurs, with emphasis on Tyrannosauroidea

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Tyrannosaurus is viewed as a model organism in vertebrate paleontology, with numerous studies analyzing its feeding biomechanics. Nonetheless, the evolution of this feeding performance has been under‐addressed in Tyrannosauroidea, especially in basal tyrannosauroids. Here we used muscle‐force reconstruction and finite element analysis (FEA) to

Show Me the Brain!!: A modern approach to neuroanatomy education

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Show Me the Brain!! (SMtB) is a digital system for interactive graphics that is designed to support instruction in neuroanatomy and neuroscience. It will soon be made open‐source and freely available. SMtB bridges medical and traditional neuroanatomy instruction with the computational systems and representational conventions common in ...

Well distributed sequences of integers

open access: yes, 1971
Niven’s notion of a uniformly distributed sequence of integers is generalized to well distribution, and two classes of integer sequences are studied in terms of this generalization.

Modeling and parameter estimation for fractional large‐scale interconnected Hammerstein systems

open access: yesAsian Journal of Control, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper addresses the challenge of modeling and identifying large‐scale interconnected systems exhibiting memory effects, hereditary properties, and non‐local interactions. We propose a fractional‐order extension of the Hammerstein architecture that incorporates Grünwald–Letnikov operators to capture complex dynamics through multiple ...

Development of cognitive diagnostic assessment questions items for integers

open access: yesDiscover Education
Integers are fundamental to mathematics. However, students still struggle with learning integers. Students' abilities and weaknesses can be detected through a series of tests. Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment (CDA) is a form of assessment that can provide

Controllability and Observability Conditions for Impulsive DAEs on Time Scales

open access: yesAsian Journal of Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper establishes criteria for controllability and observability in a class of linear time‐invariant impulsive differential‐algebraic equations (DAEs) defined on a time scale. Controllability is defined as the ability to transfer the system state from any initial condition to any desired state within a finite time interval using an ...
