Recently, applied sciences, including longitudinal and clustered studies in biomedicine require the analysis of ultra-high dimensional linear mixed effects models where we need to select important fixed effect variables from a vast pool of available ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Misspecification in Generalized Linear Mixed Models and Its Impact on the Statistical Wald Test
Generalized linear mixed models are commonly used in repeated measurement studies and account for the dependence between observations obtained from the same experimental unit.

Global and local distance-based generalized linear models [PDF]
This paper introduces local distance-based generalized linear models. These models extend (weighted) distance-based linear models first to the generalized linear model framework. Then, a nonparametric version of these models is proposed by means of local

Nonlocal priors for Bayesian variable selection in generalized linear models and generalized linear mixed models and their applications in biology data [PDF]
from short.pdf file.Dissertation supervisors: Dr. Marco A. R. Ferreira and Dr. Tieming Ji.Includes vita.A crucial problem in building a generalized linear model (GLM) or a generalized linear mixed model (GLMM) is to identify which subset of predictors ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Evidence Synthesis for Decision Making 2:A Generalized Linear Modeling Framework for Pairwise and Network Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials [PDF]
We set out a generalized linear model framework for the synthesis of data from randomized controlled trials. A common model is described, taking the form of a linear regression for both fixed and random effects synthesis, which can be implemented with ...

This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
