Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Sensory analysis of Prato cheeses by generalized linear mixed models

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Latícinios Cândido Tostes
Sensory analysis, an area of Food Science, is used to analyze and measure characteristics of foods, being able to evaluate the acceptance of samples. Such assessments can be performed using the 9-point numerical hedonic scale, classified as an ordinal ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Analysis of Fluid Velocity inside an Agricultural Sprayer Using Generalized Linear Mixed Models

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The fluid velocity inside the tank of agricultural sprayers is an indicator of the quality of the mixture. This study aims to formulate the best generalized linear mixed model to infer the fluid velocity inside a tank under specific operational ...

Misspecification in Generalized Linear Mixed Models and Its Impact on the Statistical Wald Test

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Generalized linear mixed models are commonly used in repeated measurement studies and account for the dependence between observations obtained from the same experimental unit.

Global and local distance-based generalized linear models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper introduces local distance-based generalized linear models. These models extend (weighted) distance-based linear models first to the generalized linear model framework. Then, a nonparametric version of these models is proposed by means of local

The subset argument and consistency of MLE in GLMM: Answer to an open problem and beyond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We give answer to an open problem regarding consistency of the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) in generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs) involving crossed random effects.

sdmTMB: An R Package for Fast, Flexible, and User-Friendly Generalized Linear Mixed Effects Models with Spatial and Spatiotemporal Random Fields

open access: yesbioRxiv
Geostatistical spatial or spatiotemporal data are common across scientific fields. However, appropriate models to analyse these data, such as generalised linear mixed effects models (GLMMs) with Gaussian Markov random fields (GMRFs), are computationally ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Effect of imperfect detection on the estimation of niche overlap between two forest dormice

open access: yesiForest - Biogeosciences and Forestry, 2018
Quantification of niche overlap represents an important topic in several aspects of ecology and conservation biology, although it could be potentially affected by imperfect detection, i.e., failure to detect a species at occupied sites.
