Lurching Toward Chernobyl: Dysfunctions of Real-Time Computation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Cognitive biological structures, social organizations, and computing machines operating in real time are subject to Rate Distortion Theorem constraints driven by the homology between information source uncertainty and free energy density.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

From Infinite to Finite Programs: Explicit Error Bounds with Applications to Approximate Dynamic Programming

open access: yes, 2017
We consider linear programming (LP) problems in infinite dimensional spaces that are in general computationally intractable. Under suitable assumptions, we develop an approximation bridge from the infinite-dimensional LP to tractable finite convex ...

ESTIMATION AND OPTIMAL PLANS OF MULTIPLE RAMP-STRESS ACCELERATED LIFE TESTS FOR THE GENERALIZED HALF-NORMAL DISTRIBUTION [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Egyptian Mathematical Society, 2018
Accelerated life tests are commonly utilized in manufacturing industries to induce early failures of highly reliableproducts. In this paper, estimation and optimal design issues of multiple ramp-stress accelerated life tests are discussedfor the generalized half-normal distribution.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

A Comprehensive Overview of the Clinical, Electrophysiological, and Neuroimaging Features of BPAN: Insights From a New Case Series

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA) comprises a genetically and clinically heterogeneous group of rare neurological disorders characterized particularly by iron accumulation in the basal ganglia. To date, 15 genes have been associated with NBIA.

Impact of APOE ε4 Genotype Load on Cognitive Function and Lipid Metabolism in Patients With Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Apolipoprotein ε4 (APOE ε4) is a potent genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its role in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. Given the clinical and pathological similarities between CSVD and AD, this study aimed to investigate the associations of APOE ε4 gene dosage with cognitive function and
