CONDITIONAL ORDERING OF GENERALIZED ORDER STATISTICS REVISITED

Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 2008
In this article we investigate less restrictive conditions on the model parameters that enable one to establish the likelihood ratio ordering of one generalized order statistic by conditioning on the right tail of another lower-indexed generalized order statistic. One application of the main results is also presented.

A generalization of simplicial elimination orderings

Journal of Graph Theory, 1996
A vertex \(v\) in a graph \(G\) is called pretty if in its neighbourhood there is no induced subgraph which is either the path \(P_4\) with four vertices or the graph \(2K_2\) consisting of two disjoint edges. A graph is pretty if each induced subgraph has a pretty vertex.

Pre-orders and Orders Generated by Conjunctive Uninorms

2014
This paper is devoted to studying of (pre-)orders of the unit interval generated by uninorms. We present properties of such generated pre-orders. Further we give a condition under which the generated relation is just a pre-order, i.e., under which it is not anti-symmetric.

Third-order generalization: A new approach to categorizing higher-order generalization

Neurocomputing, 2008
Generalization, in its most basic form, is an artificial neural network's (ANN's) ability to automatically classify data that were not seen during training. This paper presents a framework in which generalization in ANNs is quantified and different types of generalization are viewed as orders.

Generalized order statistic filters

International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003
The authors explore generalizations of order statistic (OS) filters, a class of finite-width discrete windowing filters defined by linearly weighting the samples in the window according to their natural ordering as real numbers. The concept can be extended by defining generalized ordering rules generating different permutations of the sample prior to ...
