Mental Health Conditions and Incident Cancer: A Prospective Cohort Study of 402,255 UK Biobank Participants

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 6, Page 1420-1431, 15 September 2026.
Evidence suggests a potential association between mental health conditions and cancer risk, yet previous studies were limited by small samples and the use of self‐reported measures. Using data from the UK Biobank's large‐scale prospective population cohort over a median follow‐up of 13.4 years, this analysis demonstrates associations between depression,

Ideology and Agenda Setting in the High Court of Australia

open access: yesJournal of Empirical Legal Studies, Volume 23, Issue 3, Page 408-425, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Does judicial ideology affect the process of agenda‐setting in the High Court of Australia? Applications for “special leave” to appeal are the primary method through which the High Court manages its caseload, analogous to certiorari at the U.S. Supreme Court.

On Matrix‐Based Cryptography Using Matrix Norm and Special Integer Sequences

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, Volume 299, Issue 8, Page 2087-2102, August 2026.
ABSTRACT In this paper, a novel matrix‐based encryption approach based on the Affine Hill cipher is presented. The key matrix is constructed using the Narayana integer sequence, and the Frobenius norm of the key matrix is used as a scaling factor in the key construction.

The Two Extremal Rays of Some Hyper–Kähler Fourfolds

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, Volume 299, Issue 8, Page 2161-2176, August 2026.
ABSTRACT We consider projective Hyper–Kähler manifolds of dimension 4 that are deformation equivalent to Hilbert squares of K3 surfaces. In case such a manifold admits a divisorial contraction, the exceptional divisor is a conic bundle over a K3 surface. A classification of lattice embeddings implies that there are five types of such conic bundles.

Interpreting the Intensity of Vocal Emotions Across Cultures

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Psychology, Volume 67, Issue 4, Page 983-1003, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Intensity is a fundamental dimension of emotions that affects their perception. However, theoretical and empirical studies on intensity, particularly in the vocal domain, remain limited. Furthermore, research on the effects of emotional dimensions (e.g., arousal, valence, and basicness) on intensity ratings remains sparse.

A Note on Generalized k-Order F&L Hybrinomials

open access: yesAxioms
In this study, we introduce generalized k-order Fibonacci and Lucas (F&L) polynomials that allow the derivation of well-known polynomial and integer sequences such as the sequences of k-order Pell polynomials, k-order Jacobsthal polynomials and k-order ...

Regular polygonal numbers and generalized Pell equations [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Mathematical Forum, 2007
In the eighteenth century, both square numbers and triangular num- bers were investigated by Euler and Goldbach (1742), who determined the recurrence relations satisfied by the sequence and established the general formulae explicitly. It seems to the author that the topics around this subject have not been touched in mathematical literature.

An Examination of Ongoing Associations Between Ethnic/Racial Discrimination and Experiences of Belonging Among Black and Latinx Students Attending a Predominantly White Institution

open access: yesJournal of Community &Applied Social Psychology, Volume 36, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT Using longitudinal data collected across four years of college among a sample of Black and Latinx students enrolled at a predominantly White Institution (PWI; N = 170; 71% women), the present study investigated how experiences of ethnic/racial discrimination on campus may have influenced students' sense of belonging across their college years.

Predicting the Complex, Multilevel Ecology of US County‐Level Diabetes Prevalence: A Cross‐Sectional, Artificial Intelligence Analysis

open access: yesDiabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, Volume 42, Issue 5, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Diabetes and its risk factors are embedded in a complex multilevel ecology. Upstream factors (i.e., ‘forcing factors’ that refer to fundamental population‐based social, economic, and political structures shaping health outcomes long before disease develops) and downstream risk factors (i.e., the individual‐level characteristics and ...

On Generalized Third-Order Pell Numbers

open access: yesAsian Journal of Advanced Research and Reports, 2019
In this paper, we investigate the generalized third order Pell sequences and we deal with, in detail, three special cases which we call them third order Pell, third order Pell-Lucas and modified third order Pell sequences. We present Binet’s formulas, generating functions, Simson formulas, and the summation formulas for these sequences.
