Procrustean pseudo‐landmark methods in Python to measure massive quantities of leaf shape data [PDF]

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences
Premise When examining leaf shapes that are different from one another, it can be difficult to compare both the overall leaf shape and points along the leaf margin in biologically and statistically meaningful ways.

Evaluation of the Physiological and Behavioural Relationships of Yearling Bucks by Generalized Procrustes Analysis

open access: diamondProceedings of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, 2022
The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationships between some sexual behaviours and physiological traits such as serum testosterone concentration, body weight loss and presence of horns of yearling bucks using Generalized Procrustes Analysis (GPA). In the study, 11 yearling bucks being sexually in- experienced were used.

Consensus Molecular Alignment Based on Generalized Procrustes Analysis. [PDF]

open access: greenJournal of Chemical Information and Computer Sciences, 2004
One of the most serious problems in three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) studies is selection of an alignment rule for molecular super position of the compounds in the data set. In 3D-QSAR analyses of structure-activity data, a reference compound in a defined conformation is chosen, and all structures in the data set

Sexual Monomorphism and Size‐Related Shape Change in the Beak of the Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science
Background The avian beak is a functionally important structure shaped by ecological demands. In highly specialized filter‐feeders such as flamingos, subtle variation in beak size and shape may influence feeding performance.

Solving bundle block adjustment by generalized anisotropic Procrustes analysis [PDF]

open access: greenISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, 2015
Abstract The paper presents a new analytical tool to solve the classical photogrammetric bundle block adjustment. The analytical model is based on the generalized extension of the anisotropic row-scaling Procrustes analysis, that has been recently proposed by the same authors to solve the image exterior orientation problem.

Methodological proposal for the characterization of accessions in Germplasm Banks using Generalized Procrustes Analysis applied to incomplete but connected trials

open access: goldRevista de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, 2021
Characterization of plant material conserved in germplasm banks allows the study and analysis of the genetic variability within a collection. When germplasm banks have a large number of accessions, field evaluation should be performed using assays ...

Perturbation Theory for Generalized Procrustes Analysis

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1985
SUMMARY Perturbation theory for Procrustes statistics is developed when both configurations are subject to independent normal errors. The total sum of squares is shown to partition into sums of squares for translation, rotation/reflection and scaling, plus a residual. These results are extended to generalized Procrustes analysis.

An improved ICP algorithm based on Generalized Procrustes Analysis [PDF]

open access: goldProceedings of the 2016 3rd International Conference on Mechatronics and Information Technology, 2016
Point cloud registration often use ICP algorithm to match ,which is the classic algorithm of point cloud registration, due to the presence of some defects in ICP algorithm, scholars later have done a lot of improvements. In this paper, we firstly view the traditional ICP algorithms, then we propose the Procrustes analysis into the ICP algorithm for ...

Generalizing Procrustes Analysis for Better Bilingual Dictionary Induction [PDF]

open access: greenCoRR, 2018
Most recent approaches to bilingual dictionary induction find a linear alignment between the word vector spaces of two languages. We show that projecting the two languages onto a third, latent space, rather than directly onto each other, while equivalent in terms of expressivity, makes it easier to learn approximate alignments.

Generalized Procrustes Analysis: A Tool for Exploring Aggregates and Persons

open access: hybridApplied Multivariate Research, 2009
Gower (1975) introduced Generalized Procrustes Analysis (GPA) as a multivariate statistical technique for analyzing three-dimensional data matrices. The current paper presents a non-technical introduction to the logic underlying GPA and then presents a completely worked example using genuine data.
