ON THE GENERAL QUADRATIC GAUSS SUMS WEIGHTED BY CHARACTER SUMS OVER A SHORT INTERVAL [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Mathematical Society, 2013
Abstract. By using the analytic methods, the mean value of the generalquadratic Gauss sums weighted by the first power mean of character sumsover a short interval is investigated. Several sharp asymptotic formulaeare obtained, which show that these sums enjoy good distributive prop-erties. Moreover, interesting connections among them are established. 1.

The Evolution of the Local Induction Approximation for a Regular Polygon *

open access: yesESAIM: Proceedings and Surveys, 2014
In this paper, we consider the so-called local induction approximation (LIA): $$ \Xt = \Xs\wedge\Xss, $$ X

Self‐Similar Blowup for the Cubic Schrödinger Equation

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We give a rigorous proof for the existence of a finite‐energy, self‐similar solution to the focusing cubic Schrödinger equation in three spatial dimensions. The proof is computer‐assisted and relies on a fixed point argument that shows the existence of a solution in the vicinity of a numerically constructed approximation.

Local Polynomial Regression and Filtering for a Versatile Mesh‐Free PDE Solver

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, EarlyView.
A high‐order, mesh‐free finite difference method for solving differential equations is presented. Both derivative approximation and scheme stabilisation is carried out by parametric or non‐parametric local polynomial regression, making the resulting numerical method accurate, simple and versatile. Numerous numerical benchmark tests are investigated for

A highly accurate numerical method for solving boundary value problem of generalized Bagley‐Torvik equation

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
A highly accurate numerical method is given for the solution of boundary value problem of generalized Bagley‐Torvik (BgT) equation with Caputo derivative of order 0<β<2$$ 0<\beta <2 $$ by using the collocation‐shooting method (C‐SM). The collocation solution is constructed in the space Sm+1(1)$$ {S}_{m+1}^{(1)} $$ as piecewise polynomials of degree at ...

From Molecular Insight to Mesoscale Membrane Remodeling: Curvature Generation by Arginine‐Rich Cell‐Penetrating Peptides

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Cell‐penetrating peptides are a widely‐used drug delivery platform. So far, there is a lack of quantitative understanding of the mechanisms that drive their efficiency. We introduce an integrative modeling approach combining molecular dynamics and continuum modeling, and apply it to show how the binding of cell‐penetrating peptides leads to membrane ...

Nonparametric Detection of a Time‐Varying Mean

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We propose a nonparametric portmanteau test for detecting changes in the unconditional mean of a univariate time series which may display either long or short memory. Our approach is designed to have power against, among other things, cases where the mean component of the series displays abrupt level shifts, deterministic trending behaviour ...

Numerical Model Reduction of Multi‐Scale Electrochemical Ion Transport

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 7, 15 April 2026.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we develop a Numerical Model Reduction (NMR) framework for multi‐scale modeling of electro‐chemically coupled ion transport. Upon introducing the governing equations and employing Variationally Consistent Homogenization, a two‐scale model, consisting of a macro‐scale and a sub‐scale part, is obtained.

Isoperimetric inequalities on slabs with applications to cubes and Gaussian slabs

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 79, Issue 4, Page 1012-1072, April 2026.
Abstract We study isoperimetric inequalities on “slabs”, namely weighted Riemannian manifolds obtained as the product of the uniform measure on a finite length interval with a codimension‐one base. As our two main applications, we consider the case when the base is the flat torus R2/2Z2$\mathbb {R}^2 / 2 \mathbb {Z}^2$ and the standard Gaussian measure

Dynamic Transitions for Fast Joint Acquisition and Reconstruction of CEST‐Rex$$ {R}_{ex} $$ and T1$$ {T}_1 $$

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 2153-2168, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose This work proposes a method for the simultaneous estimation of the exchange‐dependent relaxation rate Rex$$ {R}_{ex} $$ and the longitudinal relaxation time T1$$ {T}_1 $$ from a single acquisition. Methods A novel acquisition scheme was developed that combines CEST saturation with an inversion pulse and a Look‐Locker readout to capture
