A Linear Complementarity Numerical Approach to the Non-Convex Problem of Structures Environmentally Damaged and Strengthened by Cable-Bracings

open access: yesBiomath, 2012
A computational treatment is presented for the mathematically rigorous analysis of civil engineering structures, which have been environmentally damaged and subsequently strengthened by cable-elements.

Generalized subdifferential of the distance function [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2005
We derive the proximal normal formula for almost proximinal sets in a smooth and locally uniformly convex Banach space. Our technique leads us to show the generic Fréchet smoothness of the distance function in the case the norm is Fréchet smooth, and we derive a necessary and sufficient condition for the convexity of a Chebyshev set in a Banach space

Hilfer fractional evolution hemivariational inequalities with nonlocal initial conditions and optimal controls

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2019
In this paper, we mainly consider a control system governed by a Hilfer fractional evolution hemivariational inequality with a nonlocal initial condition.

Nonconvex evolution inclusions generated by time‐dependent subdifferential operators

open access: yesInternational Journal of Stochastic Analysis, 1998
We consider nonlinear nonconvex evolution inclusions driven by time‐varying subdifferentials ∂ϕ(t, x) without assuming that ϕ(t.) is of compact type. We show the existence of extremal solutions and then we prove a strong relaxation theorem. Moreover, we show that under a Lipschitz condition on the orientor field, the solution set of the nonconvex ...

On the Dini-Hadamard subdifferential of the difference of two functions

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we first provide a general formula of inclusion for the Dini-Hadamard epsilon-subdifferential of the difference of two functions and show that it becomes equality in case the functions are directionally approximately starshaped at a given ...

Nonlinear evolution equations generated by subdifferentials with nonlocal constraints [PDF]

open access: yesBanach Center Publications, 2009
We consider an abstract formulation for a class of parabolic quasi-variational inequalities or quasi-linear PDEs, which are generated by subdifferentials of convex functions with various nonlocal constraints depending on the unknown functions. In this paper we specify a class of convex functions {φ(v; ·)} on a real Hilbert space H, with parameters 0 ...

On Bounds for Norms of Reparameterized ReLU Artificial Neural Network Parameters: Sums of Fractional Powers of the Lipschitz Norm Control the Network Parameter Vector

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 49, Issue 4, Page 2135-2160, 15 March 2026.
ABSTRACT It is an elementary fact in the scientific literature that the Lipschitz norm of the realization function of a feedforward fully connected rectified linear unit (ReLU) artificial neural network (ANN) can, up to a multiplicative constant, be bounded from above by sums of powers of the norm of the ANN parameter vector.

On optimality conditions and duality for multiobjective fractional optimization problem with vanishing constraints

open access: yesElectronic Research Archive
The aim of this paper is to investigate the optimality conditions for a class of nonsmooth multiobjective fractional optimization problems subject to vanishing constraints. In particular, necessary and sufficient conditions for (weak) Pareto solution are

Toward Dynamic Phase‐Field Fracture at Finite Strains

open access: yesPAMM, Volume 26, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT We investigate the evolution of dynamic phase‐field fracture in the finite‐strain setting, extending our previous work in the small‐strain viscoelastodynamic regime. The elastodynamic equations are coupled with a dissipative damage evolution for the phase‐field variable z$z$.
