Generalized Newton's Method based on Graphical Derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper concerns developing a numerical method of the Newton type to solve systems of nonlinear equations described by nonsmooth continuous functions. We propose and justify a new generalized Newton algorithm based on graphical derivatives, which have

Stochastic Variational Inequalities on Non-Convex Domains

open access: yes, 2015
The objective of this work is to prove, in a first step, the existence and the uniqueness of a solution of the following multivalued deterministic differential equation: $dx(t)+\partial ^-\varphi (x(t))(dt)\ni dm(t),\ t>0$, $x(0)=x_0$, where $m:\mathbb{R}

Dimer models and conformal structures

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 79, Issue 2, Page 340-446, February 2026.
Abstract Dimer models have been the focus of intense research efforts over the last years. Our paper grew out of an effort to develop new methods to study minimizers or the asymptotic height functions of general dimer models and the geometry of their frozen boundaries.

A variational formulation governed by two bipotentials for a frictionless contact model

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis
We consider a frictionless contact model whose constitutive law and contact condition are described by means of subdifferential inclusions. For this model, we deliver a variational formulation based on two bipotentials.

Geodesic B-Preinvex Functions and Multiobjective Optimization Problems on Riemannian Manifolds

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
We introduce a class of functions called geodesic B-preinvex and geodesic B-invex functions on Riemannian manifolds and generalize the notions to the so-called geodesic quasi/pseudo B-preinvex and geodesic quasi/pseudo B-invex functions.

Tangential Extremal Principles for Finite and Infinite Systems of Sets, II: Applications to Semi-infinite and Multiobjective Optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper contains selected applications of the new tangential extremal principles and related results developed in Part I to calculus rules for infinite intersections of sets and optimality conditions for problems of semi-infinite programming and ...

Inequalities and counterexamples for functional intrinsic volumes and beyond

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract We show that analytic analogs of Brunn–Minkowski‐type inequalities fail for functional intrinsic volumes on convex functions. This is demonstrated both through counterexamples and by connecting the problem to results of Colesanti, Hug, and Saorín Gómez.

A Douglas-Rachford splitting for semi-decentralized equilibrium seeking in generalized aggregative games

open access: yes, 2018
We address the generalized aggregative equilibrium seeking problem for noncooperative agents playing average aggregative games with affine coupling constraints.

Generalized damped Newton algorithms in nonsmooth optimization via second-order subdifferentials

open access: yesJournal of Global Optimization, 2022
The paper proposes and develops new globally convergent algorithms of the generalized damped Newton type for solving important classes of nonsmooth optimization problems. These algorithms are based on the theory and calculations of second-order subdifferentials of nonsmooth functions with employing the machinery of second-order variational analysis and

Operational Properties of SCN Function, Optimization Condition, and Exactness of Penalty Function for SCN Optimization

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This paper defines a strong convertible nonconvex (SCN) function for solving the unconstrained optimization problems with the nonconvex or nonsmooth (nondifferentiable) function. First, the concept of SCN function is defined, where the SCN functions are nonconvex or nonsmooth.
