Stochastic behaviour of a complex system with general waiting & repair time distributions

Trabajos de estadistica y de investigacion operativa, 1969
In this note the general treatment of a complex system having two types of components of classR1 havingm compoments and classR2 havingn components, with exponential failure time distributions and general waiting & repair time distributions have been examinated.

The up and down time distribution in a 1 out of n system with general life time and repair time distributions

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 1997
Abstract In repairable systems with redundancy, failed units can be replaced by spare units in order to reduce system down time. The failed units are sent to a repair shop or manufacturer for maintenance and are subsequently returned for re-use. In this paper we consider a 1 out of n system with cold standby and we assume that repaired machines ...

Impacts of repair state residence time distributions in an electric power generating capacity adequacy assessment

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part O: Journal of Risk and Reliability, 2007
The primary function of an electric power system is to satisfy the load requirement as economically as possible with an acceptable assurance of continuity and quality. A generating capacity adequacy evaluation involves the determination of the total system generation required to satisfy the load requirement.

Availability of 1-for-2 shared protection systems with general repair-time distributions

Telecommunication Systems, 2014
In this paper, we investigate the availability of 1-for-2 shared protection systems. We assume that there are 2 working units each serving a single user and one shared protection (spare) unit in the system. We also assume that the time to failure is subject to an exponential distribution and that the time to repair is subject to a general distribution.

Bernoulli schedule vacation queue with batch arrivals and random system breakdowns having general repair time distribution

International Journal of Operational Research, 2010
We analyse a single server queue with general service time distribution, random system breakdowns and Bernoulli schedule server vacations where after a service completion, the server may decide to leave the system with probability p, or to continue serving customers with probability 1−p.

Probabilistic analysis of a n-unit cold-standby system with general failure and repair time distributions

Microelectronics Reliability, 1995
In this paper, a n-unit cold-standby system with a single repair facility is analysed under the assumption that the failure and repair times are arbitrarily distributed. A mathematical model is developed using semi-regenerative processes. Systems of integral equations satisfied by various states probabilities corresponding to different initial ...

Operational readiness of a complex system with general waiting and repair time distributions

Trabajos de estadistica y de investigacion operativa, 1969
In this paper, some joint probabilities have been defined with a view to extract more information about the behaviour of a complex system havingn components, which has sufferedN failures by the timet under the assumption of exponential failure time distributions with constant rates

Probabilistic model for planning keeping of power transformer spare components with general repair time distribution

Electric Power Systems Research, 2013
Abstract The paper suggests a method to optimize the quantity of spare power transformer components. The presented sparing policy is conceived to provide minimum annual cost consisting of expected capital cost for spares, failures renewal and load curtailment costs. The method identifies minor and major failures. Power transformer is a complex system,

Availability of a k-out-of-N:F System with Generally Distributed Repair Time and Preventive Maintenance

Economic Quality Control, 2013
This paper investigates the behaviour of a system composed of N independent unit subject to failure. A single repair facility is available to attend to the failed unit. At a random time interval the system is overhauled and put back in operation as a new.
